Women’s Magazine Calls For Hollywood To Portray Abortion As ‘Act Of Love’ Onscreen

A column published in popular women’s magazine Marie Claire is pushing for Hollywood to positively portray stories of abortion for lower class women. The women’s magazine wants terminating a pregnancy to be accepted as a loving parental act. 

Marie Claire Column Wants More ‘Parents Having Abortions’ In Film & TV

Contributing Digital Editor Danielle Campoamor believes the message would be better received if the women were adults who are already parents but without much money.

She wrote in her column titled “We Need to See More Parents Having Abortions in Film and Television” that stories lines such as these would be viewed as beneficial to changing views to be favorable to abortion.

Campoamor even goes so far as to call it an “act of love.”

Abortion is already a hot topic in Hollywood. In fact, it’s the entire plotline for recent movies like Never Rarely Sometimes Always and Unpregnant.

But Campoamor wants the target demographic to change so new movies focus on abortion as a choice for families, not just single women.

Well, she might just be in luck because Planned Parenthood is already on the job in Hollywood.

Planned Parenthood Already At Work In Hollywood

Caren Spruch, Planned Parenthood’s director of arts and entertainment engagement, advises producers on positively portraying abortions in storylines.

Her work has been in demand as abortion activists, like the Marie Claire editor, seek to push an agenda to audiences.

“Nobody used to call me,” Spruch said. “I would be watching TV and going to the movies and figuring out who I thought might be open to including [in] these story lines. Now I have a couple of repeat clients. Now people call me.”

Abortion is big business for Planned Parenthood.

Positive message in movies and television shows helps fund the organization bank accounts. It pays for the organization to have an employee pushing this narrative to Hollywood executives. 

Despite abortion being legal since 1973, it has not overwhelmingly been embraced or accepted even though Hollywood has pushed it through entertainment.

Generally, many people accept social changes over the course of a generation. Abortion has failed to attain that because many Americans recognize that life begins at conception. 

Pro-Life Actress Patricia Heaton Speaks Out Against Abortion Agenda

While much of Hollywood subscribes to liberal social agendas, there are a handful who speak out against it.

Patricia Heaton has risked it all to speak out in favor of unborn children.

Heaton even challenged CBS, which aired her longstanding show “Everybody Loves Raymond,” on the topic of abortion. The Christin actress completely skewered CBS News by pointing out their poorly messaged news report.

CBS claimed Iceland was eliminating Down syndrome through abortion. Heaton reminded everyone that “Iceland isn’t actually eliminating Down Syndrome. They’re just killing everybody that has it. Big difference.”

But Heaton is fighting upstream in the entertainment industry.

The relationship with Hollywood and abortion is rather symbiotic. It’s hard to deny they are pushing a pro abortion agenda.

In 2019, many Hollywood executives promised to boycott filming in Georgia because of an abortion restriction law. 

Even as Marie Claire and Planned Parenthood push for added abortion stories in film and TV, their messaging has not been able to move the needle on public opinion for almost fifty years.
