Transgender Athlete Chelsea Wolfe Says Goal Is To ‘Burn a US Flag’ at Olympic Podium

Transgender athlete Chelsea Andrea Wolfe said her goal was to win at the Olympics so she could burn the American flag on the podium. 

Wolfe recently earned an alternate spot on the United States Women’s BMX Freestyle Olympic team. 

Wolfe is a biological male who is competing as a female. This makes Wolfe the first out transgender athlete to make a U.S. Olympic team.

Chelsea Wolfed Deleted Her Post About Burning Flag

She posted this on Facebook in March: “My goal is to win the Olympics so I can burn a US flag on the podium. This is what they focus on during a pandemic. Hurting trans children,” the BMXer wrote on Facebook in March, 2020. She included a Pink News article about how the Trump administration believes transgender athletes should compete according to their biological sex.

Wolfe has since deleted the post.

Representing your country in the Olympics is an honor. But rather than being patriotic about it, Wolfe wants to use it as an opportunity to trash the country she is representing.

“Anyone who thinks that I don’t care about the United States is sorely mistaken,” Wolfe said to Fox. “One of the reasons why I work so hard to represent the United States in international competition is to show the world that this country has morals and values, that it’s not all of the bad things that we’re known for. I take a stand against fascism because I care about this country and I’m not going to let it fall into the hands of fascists after so many people have fought and sacrificed to prevent fascism from taking hold abroad. As a citizen who wants to be proud of my home country, I’m sure as hell not going to let it take hold here.”

But, Wolfe’s politeness about her Facebook post quickly faded.

Wolfe Restricts Messaging 

Soon after the story was published, the BMXer returned to Facebook to taunt people who take issue with her competing at the Olympics to burn the flag.

The Olympian referred to “Faux News” and called anyone objecting “stupid.”

Wolfe also restricted messaging on Facebook because the fallout was ongoing.

Wolfe deleted the post below shortly after posting it.

However, we captured the screenshot below.

President Ronald Reagan’s son Michael was disgusted when he learned of Chelsea Wolfe’s Olympic goal of burning the flag.

He also tweeted that Wolfe and other biological males should not compete in women’s sports.

Olympic Requirements For Transgender Athletes

International Olympic Committee has criteria for allowing Chelsea Wolfe and other transgender people to compete in women’s sports.

The athlete must have begun the transition at least four years earlier. Testosterone levels need to be below a certain amount for 12 months prior to the event.
