Deputy Jon Holt is being celebrated as a hero for single-handedly lifting a car off a woman. The Gloucester County, Virginia law enforcement officer remarkably remained calm as he did the unthinkable while the woman’s children cried for help.
Remarkably, this wasn’t his only time being hailed as a hero.
Deputy Hold was awarded local and regional Top Cop Awards from the Greater Hampton Roads Regional Crime Line on February 2 of this year for his commitment to public safety. This was for saving two people from a burning house.
Kids Were Screaming
On May 7, Deputy Holt responded to an overturned car with an entrapment. Holt’s body camera captured the scene as he began running to save the woman. The children’s screams were evident as their mother’s head was stuck under the car.
“The driver was laying underneath the vehicle with her head pinned by the sunroof,” a statement from the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office read. “Seeing the trauma her child was witnessing, Deputy J. Holt went into overdrive.”
“Through sheer will and determination due to fearing the female may succumb to her circumstance in front of her panic-stricken child, Deputy J. Holt took quick action and was able to physically lift the vehicle up enough for the driver to maneuver her head out to safety,” the statement about the heroic event continued.
The kids pled with Deputy Holt to rescue their mother. He was their only chance to save their mom.
“She can’t breathe. She can’t breathe. Please help,” a child can be heard saying.
Adrenaline Kicks In As He Lifts The Car
To anyone else, there appeared to be little to no chance of freeing her without some sort of machinery.
He didn’t even believe he could do it, but Holt’s adrenaline kicked in and he turned into a superhero with a badge.
He asked the children to get out of the car. The terrified kids likely didn’t want to leave their mother in this state, but they complied with the officer.
That’s when Holt grunted and groaned as he used every muscle he could summon.
The video goes dark as his body cam pushes up against the car. You can hear as he lifts this car all by himself.
This is something little kids dream about but adults never expect to happen.
