Colin Kaepernick Tim Tebow Jaguars NFL Jimmy Smith

Earlier this week, we reported on outrage from the left over reports that Tim Tebow is about to be signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as a tight end, while Colin Kaepernick has yet to be given another shot in the NFL. Former Jaguars wide receiver Jimmy Smith, however, sees the matter quite differently.

Smith weighed in the Tebow v. Kaepernick drama and the former Jaguar had to say may surprise some.

Jimmy Smith Blasts Colin Kaepernick – Defends Tim Tebow

“We don’t need Colin Kaepernick on our team,” Smith emphatically told TMZ Sports. The wide receiver then added that he thinks Kaepernick “divide our locker room.”

“We need a guy like Tim Tebow, who’s a hometown hero who has love for the city anyway,” he added.

Smith then said that there is nothing racist or shady about what is happening, as Tebow is simply a better fit for the team than someone like Kaepernick.

“He’s going to be a great support for Trevor Lawrence (the Jaguars’ quarterback),” Smith said of Tebow. “Whatever capacity that is, it’s going to be a positive rather than a negative. I pray that he makes the 53-man roster, because we need all we can get.”

NFL Legend Mike Ditka Throws Support Behind Tim Tebow

Jimmy Smith wasn’t the only former NFL player to stand behind Tebow amid all the rallying for Kaepernick.

Legendary former NFL tight end Mike Ditka threw his support behind Tebow being signed to the Jaguars as well.

“Absolutely,” Ditka told USA Today. “Listen, I think he’s a good enough athlete. I think he deserves a shot. I’d give him a shot. No problem.”

Obviously they’re not going to sign a quarterback (i.e. Kaepernick) to play tight end. So why draw Tebow – Kaepernick comparisons?

Ditka went on to explain that back in his day, tight ends were blockers first and receivers second, but that isn’t the case today.

That’s why he thinks Tebow is perfect for the position.

“The tight end today, they don’t call on them to do a whole heck of a lot of blocking anymore,” Ditka explained. “He’s basically a receiver. So I think Tebow would be very, very capable and will probably do a good job in that area. I don’t see any problem with it.”

‘I Think He’ll Be A Darned Good’ Tight End

“Now, if it was the tight end of 20 years ago where you had to block defensive ends, I think it’s a bit different. But they don’t have to do that anymore,” he continued.

“They flank ’em out there, split ’em out five yards and they run routes. He’s a good enough athlete where he can beat those guys in the secondary. And I think he’ll be a darned good one.”

We can only hope that the backlash from hateful “woke” leftists doesn’t ruin Tim Tebow’s chances of joining the Jaguars.

At the end of the day, he deserves to have this shot, and Colin Kaepernick does not. Plain and simple.
