Cleveland Indians Announce Ban On Face Paint And Headdresses, But Fans Have Last Laugh

Cleveland Indians fans are about to meet the political correctness police as Opening Day arrives. The ball club is banning headdresses and face paint that mimic Native American headdresses or face paint.

In fact, people can be ejected from or denied entrance to home games if they wear headdresses or face paint.

Cleveland Indians To Change Team Name

The Tribe previously announced it will be changing the team’s name. This will likely be its last season as the Indians.

The historic ball club is changing after over a century to accommodate today’s woke society.

BACKSTORY: Cleveland Indians Fans Outraged By Team’s Name Change

While the Indians gave Chief Wahoo the official boot a handful of years ago, game attendees can still wear clothing with the old mascot.

Team management thought policing that would be too burdensome on staff and would have created longer lines at the gates.

This announcement on banning face paint and headdresses didn’t sit well with many Clevelanders and Indians fans who took to social media to express their displeasure.

Memes with Chief Wahoo showing how he must really feel started popping up on Facebook and used as replies to the announcement.

We caught up with the chief to see how he’s feeling today. ? ★ ??? 2 ??? 1 ???? – ᴀʟʟ ᴛᴀɴᴋs & ᴛᴇᴇs ☺︎︎ ???? ?? ???? ?????????????????.???

Tribe fans are pretty creative with finding a way around the rules. It is already being promoted that while you can’t wear a headdress on your head, you can wear it on a shirt.

Expect more reactions like this!

Don’t worry Cleveland. This headdress tee will not be banned!

Cleveland isn’t the first team to announce dramatic changes.

The Kansas City Chiefs did not allow headdresses or face paint during the 2020 season.

The Washington Redskins have morphed into the Washington Football Team and swapped out cheerleaders for a gender neutral dance team.

Americans Skipping Pro Sports Because Of Political Messaging

These changes for the Cleveland Indians comes at a poor time for professional sports.

Over a third of Americans are tuning in less because of the political messaging.

Thirty four percent of those responding to a YouGov poll are turning their backs on professional sports because of the social justice protests and messages that are often exhibited during games and by athletes.

Some high profile athletes, like LeBron James, have used their platform to support racial justice.

However, James has been at odds with his own message given that he has refused to condemn China’s oppression and genocide of the Uighers.

People generally tune in to watch sports to tune out the drama of every day life.

With 34% of viewers skipping these games, professional teams should be feeling a pinch to their bank accounts.

Still, teams like the Cleveland Indians continue taking a knee to cancel culture.
