Piers Morgan criticism Meghan Markle

Earlier today, we reported that Piers Morgan had quit his job hosting “Good Morning Britain” after Meghan Markle complained to the network ITV about his criticisms of her in the tell-all interview with Oprah.

Now, Morgan is defiantly doubling down on his attack on Meghan and many celebrities have come forward to defend him.

Morgan Doubles Down On Meghan Criticisms

When reporters caught up to Morgan outside his home on Wednesday, he stood by his critiques of Meghan and the interview that she took part in along with her husband, Prince Harry.

“I believe in freedom of speech,” Morgan said. “I believe in the right to be allowed to have an opinion. If people want to believe Meghan Markle, that’s entirely their right.”

‘I don’t believe almost anything that comes out of her mouth and I think the damage she’s done to the British monarchy, and to the Queen, at a time when Prince Philip is lying in hospital, is enormous and frankly contemptible,” he continued.

“If I have to fall on my sword for expressing an honestly held opinion about Meghan Markle and that diatribe of bilge that she came out within that interview, so be it,” Morgan concluded.

Celebrities Stand Behind Morgan

Much of the celebrity world has tried to kiss up to Meghan by voicing their support for her.

However, some famous folks defied the “woke” left by voicing their support for Piers Morgan.

One such celebrity is British television personality Sharon Osbourne, who is a longtime personal friend of Morgan’s.

“[Piers] I am with you. I stand by you. People forget that you’re paid for your opinion and you’re just speaking your truth,” Osbourne tweeted.

Liberal CNN host Jake Tapper may share many of the same “woke” leftwing political views that Meghan has, but he was still disturbed by what has happened to Morgan.

“This is what happens when you live in a country where there is no First amendment. Insanity,” Tapper wrote on Twitter. “Governments should have no role in policing news broadcasts.”

“You can tweet Piers what you think of his comments, that’s not what this is about,” Tapper went on to add after he got hate from trolls himself.

Megyn Kelly Chimes In

Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly, who knows a thing or two about being the victim of cancel culture herself, took to Twitter to defend Morgan.

“I don’t know what happened w/ @piersmorgan at GMB,” she wrote. “What I do know is he & Susannah have been a brilliant team that took risks & became must-watch TV. In an era of free speech being stifled everywhere, Piers fearlessly speaks his mind. We need more, not fewer like that in media.”

And, legendary British soccer star Gary Lineker let it be known that he is standing behind Morgan, too.

“Whether it’s a football manager, a television presenter or any profession for that matter, it’s always sad when someone loses their job,” he tweeted. “@piersmorgan is excellent at what he does and I’m sure he’ll be back on the telly soon.”

It seems that so much as criticizing a “woke” liberal icon like Meghan these days means that you are risking your entire career.

Love him or hate him, it can’t be denied that Morgan is one-of-a-kind and will always tell it like it is.
