First Solo Trip: Robert Irwin Takes Late Dad Steve’s Truck To Meet Bindi’s Daughter For First Time

Robert Irwin got his driver’s license and immediately took his Crocodile Hunter father’s beloved utility truck out for a spin. To make the moment an even bigger occasion, he drove to the hospital to meet his newborn niece. 

The Crocodile Hunter’s Ute Utility Truck

Fans of “The Crocodile Hunter” will recognize Steve’s Utes since it regularly appeared on his show. Now, Robert has the keys and is sitting in the driver’s seat.

He’s following in the footsteps of his big sister Bindi who took her driver’s exam in the famous Ute as well. 

Teri Irwin played the proud mom role and pointed out on Twitter that Robert passed his driver’s test without even having one error. Those years of experience around Australia Zoo really paid off. 

While the Irwins certainly could afford to buy a new truck, this one has a lot of meaning and memories. 

The Irwin family works hard at keeping Steve’s legacy alive and the old truck helps provide a great visual memory.

Both of the Irwin children obviously enjoy driving it.

It’s particularly special that Robert used Steve’s truck to go visit his niece.

The Crocodile Hunter would have been over the moon about being a grandfather.

He would have been bursting at the seams. This is a sweet way to honor him during this special time. 

Robert Irwin Meets Grace Warrior Irwin Powell

Bindi and her husband Chandler Powell named their daughter Grace Warrior Irwin Powell.

Warrior Irwin is a tribute to Steve as they expect she will carry on his tradition of being a warrior for animals. 

Robert shared a picture of himself holding Grace at the hospital.

The proud uncle beamed as he looked lovingly at his new niece. He is relishing the journeys they have ahead together. 

“Let the uncle adventures begin! Love you so much, Grace ❤️,” he wrote in the Instagram post below. “This little one picked the two best parents in the entire world. The most incredible, caring and strong Mum… and the funnest, coolest and kindest Dad. Love you three so much – I can’t wait for this exciting journey ahead!”

That baby certainly is going to have an active and fun childhood at Australia Zoo just like her mom and uncle did!
