Frankie Edgar

Former UFC champion Frankie Edgar was left on the wrong end of a highlight-reel finish this past weekend.

But “The Answer” admits he has been down this road before. And he doesn’t sound like someone ready to move on.

Edgar suffered a first round knockout loss to Cory Sandhagen in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 18. It marked his first defeat since dropping down to 135 pounds.

The former lightweight champion and featherweight title contender posted a message on social media in the days following the loss.

“I’ve licked my wounds long enough,” Edgar wrote. “I’m home with my family (and) life is good. On Saturday I was as prepared for a fight as I could have been. Props to Cory Sandhagen, he landed a perfectly timed and executed bomb on me, luckily I don’t remember it much lol. This game can be a cruel (expletive) and Saturday night was just that, but I ain’t panicked. I’ve been here before.”

Overall, the 39-year-old has lost four of his last six bouts. He did score a decision over Pedro Munhoz in his bantamweight debut last year.

“To my fans who always ride with me, I appreciate you all and you make this fun for me. (Until) the next time, see you all soon!”
