“Cobra Kai” star Ralph Macchio has maintained a balance that many in Hollywood can never achieve: a healthy marriage. The “Karate Kid” has been married for thirty-three years while enduring the bright lights of fame. He credits his wife for helping him achieve a happy home life and career.
The pair have an unusual love story that is reminiscent of throwback relationships. They met in an adorable and memorable way.
The former 80s idol met his love match in his Grandma’s basement when he was just 15-years-old. Phyllis Fierro came with Macchio’s cousin to a 16th birthday party.
That meeting led to a lifetime commitment between the pair, resulting in their children (appropriately named) Daniel and Julie.

“This is 1970 or whatever, so this is Cheez Doodles, 7Up, Tootsie Rolls, probably the Ruffles with onion dip,” Macchio told People.
“She was a friend of my cousin, and we just smiled and talked and danced a little. Probably the Hustle!”
Marriage, of course, takes a tremendous amount of work. Many marriages fall prey to the culture of Hollywood. A lasting relationship like Phyllis and Ralph’s is a rarity.
Macchio credits his wife for his “one foot in, one foot out” to balance fame and life.
Phyllis has maintained her career outside of the entertainment industry. As a nurse practitioner, she has been working on the frontlines during the coronavirus pandemic.
She’s not some posh wife married to a Hollywood actor. Phyllis carries her own weight by saving lives.

While on “Live With Kelly and Ryan” in 2019 , Macchio explained his longstanding marriage and how he met his wife. He even shared a picture of the couple before one of their first dates.
It’s an absolutely adorable love story that pulled at both Kelly and Ryan’s hearts.
Not many couples can boast that they met in grandma’s basement when they were young teens and they still make it work decades later!
