Parents Outraged To Find ‘Inappropriate’ Content In Nickelodeon’s JoJo Siwa Game For 6-Year-Olds

Parents say Nickelodeon and child star JoJo Siwa have some explaining to do after one mom blew the whistle on a game marketed for young children that contains adult content. The co-branded board game “JoJo’s Juice” is recommended for children 6 and up but the content is anything but appropriate for kids that age.

Seventeen-year-old Siwa rose to fame on the hit Lifetime reality show “Dance Moms” before turning into a YouTube sensation. The dancer, singer, and actress signed with Nickelodeon when she was just 13.

Now parents are both angry and disappointed to find this role model for young girls being used by Nickelodeon to sell seemingly innocent board games with such mature content.

Here’s one post calling out the game:

What’s worse, the teen star’s response highlights how uninvolved celebrities often are with creating or even looking at the items they endorse.

Nickelodeon + JoJo Siwa Board Game Boasts Mature Content

This is the latest in what appears to be a trend of toys for young children that have alarming content that is definitely not age appropriate and appear to be grooming kids.

In the board game, some of the cards ask children, who may be as young as six, if they have ever stolen from a store or gone outside without underwear. The card even notes bathing suits don’t count.

Another “JoJo’s Juice” card goes on to ask youngsters if they have ever walked in on someone naked or if someone walked in on them naked.

These are not typical subjects for children to discuss with each other, let alone as part of a game. Yet, the mere mention of such topics in thiis board game could lead young children to believe this is “normal” or even “expected” behavior.

How else would a 6-year-old reconcile the question being posed under the guise of their idol, JoJo Siwa.

Mom Blows Whistle On Nickelodeon’s “JoJo’s Juice” Game

One mom, Heather Watson, was appalled when she took at look at the cards.

She describes the questions and dares posed on the cards in “JoJo’s Juice” as “sick” in her post below. In fact, Watson advises other parents throw it “in the trash”.

If your CHILD has this JOJO game..I think it belongs in the trash. I am just ?? what in the actual… look at these questions, dares etc. This world is SICK!

The Nickelodeon game, which is manufactured by Spin Master, has pulled the game from shelves after Watson’s Facebook post went viral.

Both companies saw the writing on the wall when the parents who generate their revenue expressed outrage.

They acted swiftly, but the breakdown of trust has already occurred.

JoJo Siwa’s Defends Herself Amid Game Scandal

JoJo claims she had “no idea” about the inappropriate content.

The child star says that she left the details of the game up to the manufacturers and apparently didn’t even look at the final product before they started shipping out to children across the country.

JoJo took to social media to explain that she didn’t even see the cards with the scandalous questions.

“Over the weekend, it has been brought to my attention by my fans and followers on TikTok that my name and my image have been used to promote this board game that has some really inappropriate content,” the 17-year-old JoJo said. “Now when companies make these games, they don’t run every aspect by me, so I had no idea of the types of questions that were on these playing cards.”

JoJo Siwa even called the questions on her game cards “gross” in the apology video below.

While this is just the latest instance of inappropriate toys targeting young children, this one is especially disappointing and distressing.

Nickelodeon has been a household name for decades and it’s a name that parents trust. Further, JoJo Siwa has built her brand as a wholesome role model for millions of kids.

No doubt this disturbing “JoJo’s Juice” discovery will leave a bad taste in parents’ mouths. It’s sad that parents have to be so wary of what dangers may lie in even the most seemingly innocent toys these days.
