Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Given Harsh Warning By Princess Diana’s Former Private Secretary

A former aide of Princess Diana’s sent a harsh warning to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. He cautions them that their brand will fail if they don’t stick to the royal family’s “great tradition” of public service.

Former Diana Aide Issues Warning To Meghan And Harry

Newsweek reported that Patrick Jephson was Diana’s private secretary throughout the 1990s, and he got to watch Harry grow up during that time. One year after Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior royals, however, Jephson has a warning for them that they may want to take seriously.

“Harry and Meghan have an evolving brand issue,” he explained. “One could argue that, at its best, membership of the royal family gives you access to the most extraordinary and powerful brand in the world. To voluntarily divest yourselves of all those advantages in pursuit of something else is very daring—and we don’t even know what that something else is.”

“But if it departs very much from that great tradition of personal sacrifice and public service that defines the monarchy brand then I don’t believe it will succeed,” Jephson continued.

Harry And Meghan’s Growing Empire

After stepping down as senior royals last year, Meghan and Harry moved across the world to her home state of California. They’ve settled in the ritzy area of Montecito. There, the couple launched a Spotify podcast, Archewell Audio, and Netflix production company, Archewell Productions, with the same branding as their non-profit Archewell Foundation.

“At Archewell, we unleash the power of compassion to drive systemic cultural change,” states the official Archewell website. “We do this through our non-profit work within Archewell Foundation 501(c)(3), in addition to creative activations through the business verticals of audio and production.”

The empire that Meghan and Harry are creating is already estimated to be worth over $200 million, and experts say they could potentially make it worth billions in the future.

Expert Weighs In On Meghan And Harry’s Brand

“My guess is they’ll be the $10 billion royal couple,” Professor Jonathan Shalit, founder of U.K.-based InterTalent Rights Group, said last month.

“I’ll tell you why, the way you become multi-billionaires is you get involved before the shares explode,” he added. “Lots of startups and companies are going to want Meghan and Harry attached to their product so that in turn will create other investors and other shareholders. So they’re like a shop window for investors. Meghan’s going to be a door opener creating opportunities for her partners to get more money.”

“Once you get shares and equity and startup companies explode, you can end up being worth billions if you get in at the right time,” Shalit concluded. “When I say $10 billion dollars I mean that as a trajectory. It could be 10 years.”

There’s no question that Meghan and Harry have the potential to rake in the major big bucks. But, they would do well to not get too full of themselves.

If they really want to be smart about this, they’ll heed Jephson’s advice, and not stray too far from their roots.
