John Cena AJ Styles

John Cena was against the idea of WWE bringing in Impact Wrestling names such as AJ Styles, Robert Roode and James Storm. Also, WWE Hall of Famers The Bushwhackers are returning to in-ring competition.

John Cena Against Signing AJ Styles

John Cena is known as being the face of the WWE for close to 20 years. He has accomplished nearly everything, even being one world title win away from surpassing Ric Flair’s record.

By being WWE’s poster child, it comes with plenty of perks. Besides the finical ones, there is also the ever important backstage pull.

On the ARN Show, Arn Anderson went over a conversation about bring ing in some Impact Wrestling stars. In particular, he wanted AJ Styles, Bobby Roode and James Storm to sign with WWE.

Well, Cena did not agree as he thought WWE was capable of building their own stars. Anderson had to speak with Cena and try to explain his reasoning of freshening up the roster.

“I sat John down,” said Anderson. “I don’t remember the year, but I could feel that things were getting a little stale.”

“WWE needed an influx of not just bodies and people coming from NXT, but seasoned veterans. I sat John down and said, ‘you know John, there’s some guys with the other company and that we can steel and blend in to work with you.’”

“My conversation was that it was Bobby Roode, Cowboy [James Storm], and AJ Styles. I said, ‘These guys can go. I’m talking about talk shelf performers and they will freshen everything up.’”

“He looked me right in the eye and at this time John had 100% stroke, power, it was his call on everything that had to do with him. He said, ‘Why would we want those guys? We make our own stars.”

Cena Was Wrong

In the end, the three names pitched did get a shot a WWE.

Styles has been the most successful and is considered one of the best around the world. He and Cena feuded extensively, with a culmination of Cena winning his 16th world championship.

Roode joined as part of NXT, where he was their world champion. His main roster run has been full of hits and misses.

Storm would appear on NXT TV a few times, but never signed a contract. Instead, he opted to work for NWA and recently returned to Impact Wrestling.

Thankfully, WWE decided to bring in some familiar names from Impact Wrestling. It just shows, that too much power causes people to not make the right decisions.

WWE Hall Of Famers Reuniting

Sometimes, you cannot give up on the wrestling business. Despite being in their mid 70s, The Bushwhackers are returning inside the squared circle.

Below, is part of the press release.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for. The Bushwhackers, also known as The Sheephearders and Los Pastores, are back together. The news was confirmed today by Bushwhacker Luke Williams on his Facebook Page. For the first time in 20 years, the WWE Hall of Famers, Luke Williams and Butch Miller, considered by many experts as one of the best tag teams of all time, are back formerly back together.

The 35 time tag team champions are now available for bookings all around the world. Just for this year, promoters will be able to book The Bushwhackers as a tag team for any wrestling or non wrestling related events, Meet & Greets, Virtual Meet & Greets, seminars, online seminars, wrestling seminars, promote your business or product, conventions, commercials, special appearances and any other activities.

WWE Hall of Famers Luke Williams and Butch Miller have not wrestled together since 2001. Miller, who is 76 years old, retired two decades ago because of a neck injury.

Williams, who is 74 years old, still competes today. He has mostly been spotted on the Indy scene.

It is questionable why two men with a combined age over 150 years old would want to wrestle. At their age, taking any bumps seem dangerous.

If anyone wants to book the tag team, they have 11 months to do so.
