Car Thief Returns To Scene Of Crime To Lecture Victim Then Steals Car Again

Police in Oregon are searching for a car thief who returned to the scene of the crime to lecture the owner of the car before fleeing with her car a second time. This woke criminal even threatened to call police on the woman.

This happened at the Basics Meat Market in Beaverton, Oregon at 9 AM. Crystal Leary was just 15 feet from her car when the robber jumped in and took off with her 4-year-old son in the back seat of the 2013 silver Honda Pilot.

Instead of understanding that he caused this situation by stealing her car, he returned to the scene of the crime to scold his victim.

Parenting Advice From A Car Thief

This woke thief, who not only stole a car but technically kidnapped a child, somehow felt qualified to give this woman parenting advice.

“He actually lectured the mother for leaving the child in the car and threatened to call the police on her,” Officer Matt Henderson said.

“He orders her to take the kid out of the car, and she does,” the Police Department spokesperson continued. The little boy was unharmed, police said.

Then the thief took off in the stolen car for a second time.

Shockingly, Henderson also said credited the criminal with being decent about the situation.

Even thieves get participation trophies sometimes.

“Obviously, we’re thankful he brought the little one back and had the decency to do that,” he said.

The vehicle was found a few hours later in Portland but police are still searching for the thief.

If the man was so decent, he wouldn’t have stolen the car or even looked to see if anyone was in the backseat.

Description Of Suspect

Beaverton Police report the two-timing thief is a man in his 20s or 30s with dark brown or black braided hair. He also wore a multi-colored face mask during the crime. Not only is he dishing out parenting advice, but he’s also COVID cautious while committing crimes.

The mother did leave the car unlocked and the keys in the ignition.

Store employees verified she was always within a few feet of her child. While it always best to take precautions, it still certainly does not give anyone the right to steal her car.

“As moms, we get really busy and we think we’re just running in for a second and this is just a perfect example of just letting our guards down and how terrible it could have ended,” the mother told KPTV.

“I am thankful that he is okay,” Leary continued. “It was so stupid and I’ll never do that again, but it’s that split second decision that can just change everything.”
