Queen And Prince Philip’s Special 73rd Anniversary Portrait Shows Their Human Side

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip are celebrating their 73rd wedding anniversary. While they are known as the longest serving Queen and consort in the Royal Family, they are also known as Grandma and Grandpa and this year’s anniversary portrait showcases that perfectly.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip Married In 1947

The couple married in 1947, just four years before Elizabeth took the throne at age 25, after her father, King George VI, died prematurely.

While Prince Philip is retired from public service, the 94-year-old Queen continues with her royal responsibilities.

The world watched as the future Queen and Prince Philip tie the knot many decades ago never expecting that 73 years later they would still be going strong.

For their wedding anniversary, a sweet and rather nontraditional portrait of the couple was released.

This special image was more informal than the traditional portraits of the pass. This picture humanizes the Elizabeth and Philip not just as royals, but also as loving grandparents.

Their marriage has blessed them with four children, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

In the anniversary portrait, the couple are happily looking at a homemade anniversary card made by three of their great-grandchildren.

Prince William’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis gifted them with artwork.

The sweet picture shows a table filled with anniversary cards in front of them. They chose a special one made just for them by three children they love with all their hearts.

Pomp and circumstance took a backseat for the Royal Family on this special day.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were pleased that their children’s artwork had a central role in the anniversary portrait.

They also shared a couple closeups of the portrait and the card.

Queen Elizabeth’s marriage to Prince Philip is the longest marriage in the history of the British monarchy by a long shot.

King George III and his queen consort, Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz with their 57 year marriage.

The 94-year-old Queen and her 99-year-old Prince have had a tremendous life together.

They certainly have cemented their place in the Royal Family’s history and also in the hearts of people throughout the world.
