New Miss USA Loves God And Guns – Shares How Her Christian Faith Got Her Through Tough Times

Last week, Miss Mississippi Asya Branch won the title of Miss USA after speaking out to defend the Second Amendment during the interview portion of the pageant. Now, the newly crowned Miss USA is sharing with the world her views on guns and how her Christian faith got her through some tough times in life.

Branch made history on November 9, 2020 as the first African American Miss Mississippi to win the title of Miss USA. Now Branch is using her platform to discuss the issues that matter most to her.

Miss USA Asya Branch Talks About Her Christian Faith

Branch, 22, has had her fair share of struggles in her life.

As a child, her father was incarcerated for ten years, something that was very difficult for her and her family to handle.

When asked how she got through this difficult time in her life, Branch explained that her relationship with God helped her tremendously.

“I’m a Christian,” Branch explained to Fox News. “I really relied on my values and my faith. My faith helped guide me and it really gave me the strength that I needed. I think that’s how I got through everything. Also, school was there for me. It helped me stay busy.”

“I was so happy on my dance team, math and science club, drama club – anything I could get involved in, I did it to keep my mind active,” she added. “I wanted to distract myself from all the hurt and pain I was feeling.”

Miss USA Asya Branch Clarifies Gun Stance

Branch also clarified her opinions on guns, saying that she feels like her views on the Second Amendment have been “misconstrued” in the days since the pageant.

“I think it’s completely fine for judges to restrict gun ownership to someone who may pose a threat or risk to themselves or others,” she said.

“But for people who don’t pose as a threat to anyone, I think we should tighten up our safety and make sure they have gone through all the proper courses of safety and ensure they have all the training under their belt that’s necessary for them to have firearms,” Branch added.

“As far as military weapons, I don’t think civilians need to be in possession of those.”

Judge Were Surprised When She Defended The Second Amendment

During the Miss USA pageant, Branch surprised the judges by vehemently defending the Second Amendment.

“As someone who grew up in a home with guns, I learned at an early age how to load, how to fire, and gun safety,” Branch said. “And I think that education should be available to everyone.”

“I believe that we should require people to pass safety and training before they are allowed to purchase a gun and before receiving a permit,” she added.

“I think it’s important that we not ban guns because obviously people will find a way to get what they want anyways. I think it’s our second amendment right. We just need more safety surrounding that.”

It’s nice to see that we have a Miss USA who clearly loves both God and guns. Sounds like the perfect all-American woman to me!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
