Colin Kaepernick Abu-Jamal

Former NFL quarterback and current social justice activist Colin Kaepernick spoke out this week to demand the release of convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal.

Colin Kaepernick Fights For Convicted Cop Killer To Be Freed

CBS News reported that Abu-Jamal is a former Black Panther who was convicted of the 1981 murder of a white police officer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Kaepernick called for his release during a virtual conference with supporters of the convicted killer on Monday.

During his impassioned please, Kaepernick said:

“We’re in the midst of a movement that says ‘Black Lives Matter.’ And if that’s truly the case, then it means that Mumia’s life and legacy must matter. And the causes that he sacrificed his life and freedom for must matter as well.”

You can watch Colin Kaepernick speak on Mumia Abu-Jamal’s behalf in the video below.

Abu-Jamal, 64, is a former radio reporter. He was initially given the death penalty for murdering Officer Daniel Faulkner on Dec. 9, 1981.

However, he was re-sentenced to life in prison in 2012.

“Mumia has been in prison longer than I’ve been alive,” Kaepernick said, going on to claim that Abu-Jamal was “framed” for the murder and was not given a fair trial.

Abu-Jamal’s Murder Conviction

Abu-Jamal allegedly murdered Faulkner after the cop stopped the Black Panther’s brother for driving the wrong way down a city street.

Prosecutors said at the time of the conviction that Abu-Jamal witnessed the traffic stop and opened fire at Faulkner, who managed to shoot back at him.

Abu-Jamal, who was wounded in the shooting, has long claimed that he did not shoot Faulkner. In his numerous appeals, he has claimed that he was only convicted because of racist prosecutors and a racist trial judge.

To date, his appeals all appear to have been denied,

Yet Kaepernick seem to have bought into his story hook, line, and sinker.

“Since 1981, Mumia has maintained his innocence,” Kaepernick continued. “His story has not changed. Mumia was shot, brutalized, arrested and chained to a hospital bed. The first police officer assigned to him wrote in a report that ‘The Negro male made no comment,’ as cited in Philly Mag. Yet 64 days into the investigation, another officer testified that Mumia has confessed to the killing.”

Philadelphia Police Fire Back At Colin Kaepernick

John McNesby, president of the Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5, fired back on Wednesday by saying, “This is yet another Hail Mary pass by Kaepernick and Mumia supporters to free a convicted cop killer.”

“These latest comments by Kaepernick only serve to re-victimize Danny’s widow Maureen and the entire Faulkner family,” McNesby added.

The “Justice for Daniel Faulker” Facebook page has also responded to Kaepernick.

“Why on earth would he deserve freedom for committing a murder?” the page stated. “The video shows Kaepernick truly has no knowledge on the true facts and evidence of his conviction. The ignorance of Kaepernick is a disgrace.”

The district attorney has yet to comment on Kaepernick’s request for Abu-Jamal to be freed.

It looks like Kaepernick is taking the side of a convicted cop killer without even bothering to properly research this case.

Once again, Kaepernick is showing that he isn’t really out for justice at all.

Instead, he again uses race as a shield to hurt both police officers and America as a whole.

At this point, it seems to me this former NFL quarterback just wants chaos. So it’s up to every American to make sure he doesn’t achieve it.
