Khamzat Chimaev has established himself as one of the top prospects in MMA, and he did so, until recently, without having earned his blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Watch Chimaev receive his BJJ blue belt

Recently the video below was shared out, which documents the 26-year-old Chimaev earning his blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. As you’ll see by watching it, Chimaev was pretty moved by the accomplishment.

It’s worth noting that Chimaev also reports in the video that most of his training has been done with no-gi. So, in other words, Chimaev will likely level up in BJJ belts pretty quickly, if he continues to train in the gi.

Chimaev’s next fight

Chimaev turned heads this past July by becoming the first fighter in UFC history to win two fights in just 10 days. The Chechen born, Swedish fighter submitted middleweight John Phillips on July 15th, and then just over a week later, he submitted welterweight Rhys McKee.

The talented wrestler and 8-o fighter has said he wants to fight as often as possible, and Dana White wants to make that happen.

But, due to visa issues, it’s not currently known when Chimaev will compete next.
