All-around funny man Steve Harvey defended his friend, fellow talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres. Over the past few months, Ellen has found herself in danger of being “cancelled” over the as many current and former employees have come forward to accuse her of turning a blind eye to toxic workplace conditions on the set of her show.
They have also accused Ellen of negative behavior herself, but Harvey is not buying it. He’s a loyal friend.
Fox News reported that in a new interview on Thursday, Harvey rushed to defend Ellen, who he described as “one of the coolest and kindest people I’ve met in this business.”
The “Family Feud” host went on to explain that he has known her for quite some time, saying Ellen is is “the person that I’ve known for a number of years, that I saw back in the comedy club days, when we used to split time with the same management.”
As for the scandals that DeGeneres has found herself embroiled in as of late, Harvey said that “people want to take something and make something out of everything.”
“[Ellen] has no control over what every staff member does, what every producer does, you can’t control that. You don’t even know some of the stuff that’s happening,” he added, referring to claims about the toxic workplace environment on her show.
Harvey acknowledged that “it’s her name that’s on the show” she had to “take the hit.”
Harvey’s defense of her will undoubtedly mean quite a lot to DeGeneres, as only a handful of her many celebrity friends have spoken out to defend her in any way. The vast majority of them are choosing to remain silent lest they risk being “cancelled” themselves by helping her.
Harvey, however, had no intention of allowing a cancel-culture mob stop him from defending his friend.

One specific allegation that Harvey took issue with was staffers saying that there was “racism” on the set of DeGeneres’ show.
The comedian and all-around entertainer dismissed this notion entirely. Harvey claims that Ellen definitely does not have a “racist tendency.”
“I’m a 63-year-old Black man. I’ve been Black the entire time. I ain’t took no days off. I ain’t experimented with nothing else. I ain’t got nothing else going. I’ve been a Black dude my whole life. I know racism,” he said.
“If I have a conversation with you, I know if you got racist tendency somewhere in you, because it radiates. I can feel it,” Harvey added. I’ve been around a long time, man. That’s not Ellen DeGeneres. That’s just not her, period.”

The “Family Feud” host said that he texted DeGeneres right at the beginning of all of these scandals coming out, telling her to “keep your head up.” In the end, Harvey has no doubts that DeGeneres will survive this and be able to bounce back.
“I think Ellen’s going to be absolutely fine myself. I really do,” he said.
One thing is for sure. Ellen DeGeneres is a lucky woman to have a friend like Steve Harvey in her corner!
