James Woods California passed bill sex offenses children

Hollywood star James Woods just called out the California legislature for voting to reduce penalties for sex offenders who engage in ‘consensual’ sexual relations with children.

James Woods Slams Bill Reducing Penalties For Sex With Minors

As the November 3rd nears and #SaveTheChildren trends, California Democrats passed a bill aimed at reducing the penalties for sex acts with ‘willing’ minors.

Some California lawmakers are trying to pass the bill off as an end to discrimination against LGBTQ people on the state’s sex offender registry.

Well, James Woods was having none of that. One of the few outspoken conservatives in Hollywood, he’s not one to turn a blind eye to depravity or mince words.

“Trump’s war on child sex trafficking has thrown California Democrats into a tailspin,” Woods tweeted alongside headlines about the bill.

California Bill Reduces Penalties For Sex With Children

This comes days after California lawmakers passed the bill that will reduce the penalties for adults convicted of sex offenses with minors, if the victim is within ten years of the age of the perpetrator.

Now the bill heads to the desk of California’s Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom.

The bill, SB 145, was introduced by Democrat State Senator Scott Wiener who represents the 11th Senate District, which includes San Francisco.

SB 145 states that the legislation “would exempt from mandatory registration” as a sex offender “a person convicted of certain offenses involving minors if the person is not more than 10 years older than the minor and if that offense is the only one requiring the person to register.”

The bill states that it will be up to a judge to decide if the convicted adult must register as a sex offender if the victim is within ten years of the perpetrator’s age.

Senator Wiener Defends Sex Offender Bill

Senator Wiener introduced the bill back in January of 2019.

The Democrat contends that the state’s current law, which states oral and anal sex between an adult within ten years of the age of a willing minor requires the adult to be registered as a sex offender, discriminates against LGBTQ people.

He added that his legislation which was just passed will end the “blatant discrimination against young LGBT people engaged in consensual activity,” according to the San Francisco Examiner

“This bill is about treating everyone equally under the law,” Wiener said. “Discrimination against LGBT people is simply not the California way. These laws were put in place during a more conservative and anti-LGBT time in California’s history. They have ruined people’s lives and made it harder for them to get jobs, secure housing, and live productive lives. It is time we update these laws and treat everyone equally.”

At the end of the day, we’re talking about convicted sex offenders. Whether gay, straight, or otherwise, these are adults who knowingly engaged in sexual activity with a minor.

This is about protecting our children. Sexual activity between adults and minors is outlawed for a reason. We mustn’t lose sight of that.

This is not about a perpetrator’s choice of gender but their choice to violate a vulnerable child. So, clearly, this bill represents a slippery slope.

If California’s Democrat Governor Newsom signs the bill into law, it will set a dangerous precedent for pedophiles and sex offenders everywhere.

We applaud James Woods for using his platform to call out California for this shameful sex offender bill. This is an important reminder that when Democrats are given power, it puts our children at risk.
