Attack In Catholic Church Caught On Video

A woman who assaulted a worshipper at church was questioned and released by local authorities. However, the federal government is taking this seriously and the U.S. Attorney’s Office is investigating it as a hate crime.

Worshiping in church proves to be challenging during the COVID-19 pandemic. While some people are concerned about dodging the virus, they generally don’t consider they might get hit at church.

It is supposed to be a peaceful place and that’s why this sucker punch is so shocking.

Safety In Churches During Black Lives Matter Protests

As liberal activists riot in Democrat run cities, we apparently aren’t even safe in church. Other churches have been the target of Black Lives Matter protests. One was even burned down!

BACKSTORY: This Church Refused To Close So Someone Burned It Down

Parishioners at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia were stunned to see a lector being assaulted by a woman as she came off the altar after reading.

The livestream of the mass captured the hateful and dramatic assault.

Conservative actor James Woods tweeted the shocking video. As you can see, the brute waited for the lector to walk away from the altar. Then she walloped her.

Victim Didn’t See It Coming

The lector, Sarah Contrucci, didn’t see it coming. Remarkably, she kept her composure after being sucker punched.

Thankfully, she did not require any medical attention after being struck during Mass.

While some parishioners stated that they had seen the female assailant at the Basilica before, this was Contrucci’s first time seeing the woman.

Contrucci reports that even after she was struck, she just wanted to get back to her pew so the service wouldn’t be disrupted..

“I saw somebody there that clearly seemed to be waiting there and I was a little worried that she was going to attempt to make a scene of some sort, to disrupt the mass,” the victim said. “So I was thinking that I wanted to do whatever I could to keep the situation calm and respectful and so I just wanted to get back to my pew and allow the mass to resume.”

This most certainly feels like a hate crime.

Attacked While Praising God

Contrucci was targeted in a  church as she was actively praising God. A search warrant was served and the assailant was questioned. Since local authorities declined to press charges, the feds are stepping up to investigate this assault.

US Attorney William McSwain tweeted about his office’s investigation in this attack as a hate crime.

“This attack during Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul is potentially a federal crime,” McSwain’s tweet below reads. “Thus, my Office is investigating it. No decision has yet been made about potential charging.”
