Chris Stapleton appeared on “CBS This Morning” and enthusiastically endorses Black Lives Matter, and seemingly attacks America as a ‘myth.’

The five-time Grammy Award winner was promoting his new album “Starting Over” then the topic of Black Lives Matter came up. 

“You know, I thought we were living in a different country. And that’s 100% real,” he explained. “I feel like the country that I thought that we were living in was a myth.”

During the interview, the “Tennessee Whiskey” singer was asked about the protests and riots that are taking place in various cities across the nation since on George Floyd’s death in May.

Forty-two-year-old Stapleton replied by saying that everything that has happened in the past few months led to him to a “broad awakening” about what’s really going on in America.

“I think everybody should be doing more,” the country artist said. “It’s time for me to listen. And it’s time for other folks to listen.”

Stapleton went on to admit that he has not been able to look at the United States the same way ever since all of the racial protests began.

Chris Stapleton Supports Black Lives Matter

When Stapleton was asked if he supports the Black Lives Matter movement, he was very clear with his response. Stapleton who is known for keeping a low profile, wholeheartedly threw his support behind the Black Lives Matter movement.

“Do I think Black lives matter? Absolutely… I don’t know how you could think they don’t,” he said. “I think we all have a lot of work to do, you know, as individuals as a society. And if you don’t think that, I think you’re not looking.”

Stapleton Isn’t First Nashville Star To Endorse BLM

Country legend Dolly Parton has also jumped all-aboard the Black Lives Matter train. 

The fan-favorite did an interview with Billboard, where she said, ““I understand people having to make themselves known and felt and seen… And of course Black lives matter. Do we think our little white asses are the only ones that matter? No!”

Parton had earlier changed the name of her Dixie Stampede theater show to distance herself from the 150-years-dead Confederacy. 

Her comments were so highly praised, one fan made a giant mural.
