Brock Lesnar UFC Rumors

The UFC was never able to make a bout between Brock Lesnar and Fedor Emelianenko a reality. Well, recently Scott Coker reported he’s approached the star’s team about making that happen in the Bellator cage.

Coker says he’s “reached out” to Lesnar’s team about Fedor fight

Recently it was reported that Lesnar has finished up his contract with WWE, and that he’s now a free agent. As is usually the case when this happens, the news quickly prompted talk about Lesnar possibly returning to the cage for another MMA bout.

Well, at the time, Coker said that if Lesnar is indeed, a free agent, he’d be interested in talking to the star. The Bellator President also mentioned the possibility of Lesnar finally throwing down with Fedor.

Well, while talking to the media this past weekend, Coker was asked about the Lesnar situation again. The former Strikeforce promoter said this (quotes via BJ Penn.com).

“Listen, you know, the situation with Brock Lesnar is I don’t even know if he’s a free agent.

I don’t even know if he really wants to fight. I don’t know what his situation is.

But I reached out and talked to them and said, ‘Hey, if Brock wants to fight Fedor, we have the guy.’ It could be the fight that never happened, right?

So we’ll see what happens and we’ll see if it’s something he’s really serious about. But only Brock knows,” Coker said.

“But if he was available, I’m sure we could make a deal.

I mean, I’d go right to our CEO Bob Bakish and I would talk to him about it and say, ‘This is a great opportunity.’

I would bring Stephen Espinoza and David Nevens in the mix because it would probably be a big commitment. But that’s a fight that would be a big piece of business as well.”

Could we finally see Fedor vs. Lesnar?

Now, when you consider Lesnar passed on the opportunity to fight Daniel Cormier for the UFC’s heavyweight title last year, there’s certainly reasons to believe he’s closed the book on fighting. Lesnar is now 43.

But, you just never know: an opportunity to face a legend like Fedor, with a hefty check, could appeal to Lesnar.

There’s also continued talk about Lesnar fighting Jon Jones, who has repeatedly said he wants to fight the pro-wrestling star. Might Lesnar want a chance at handing “Bones” his first, real defeat?
