Sad news for the wrestling world as WWE legend ‘Bullet’ Bob Armstrong has passed away at the age of 80. The news was revealed by Armstrong’s sons on social media.

Road Dogg is one of the sons of WWE legend ‘Bullet’ Bob Armstrong. He announced the death of his father on social media early today. 

Aside from Road Dogg, Armstrong is also the father of WWE producer Scott Armstrong.

WWE has confirmed and reacted to the death of Bullet Bob Armstrong as well. An excerpt of the statement reads:

“He handled himself well in the rough-and-tumble southeastern territories by employing an assortment of holds and moves, including his feared sleeper and Georgia Jawbreaker.”

Long-Term Illness

Bob Armstrong struggled with numerous health problems these past few years. Most notably, he suffered from bone cancer and this had spread to the ribs, shoulder, and prostate.

Armstrong’s health has been a much discussed subject in recent months. While the cause of his death has not been confirmed, it appears he lost the cancer battle.

A Look Back At An Impressive Career

Armstrong had an impressive career that will be talked about for decades to come. After all, he had matches against some of the biggest names in history.

Bob Armstrong had an impressive wrestling career. Before wrestling, he was a United States Marine and Cobb County Firefighter.

Over the course of his career, Armstrong faced men such as Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and Rowdy Roddy Piper.

Interestingly, Armstrong’s wrestling career spanned over 59 years. He made his debut in 1960 and wrestled for the final time only last year.

Armstrong also had a fulfilled family life. Unfortunately, his wife Vida Gail James also passed away in June this year.

Bob Armstrong is survived by his four sons, Joseph Scott, Robert Bradley, Steve, and Brian Girard. Their father certainly had a big impact on them, as all of them are in the wrestling business. 

Armstrong was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011. He was inducted by his four sons and said: 

“I think somebody up there likes me. I got to live my dream.”

The wrestling world has paid its respects to Bob Armstrong. Big names who expressed their condolences include Triple H, CM Punk, Mick Foley, and Chris Jericho.
