Sammy Guevara In Trouble, Wrestling Star Against Intergender Matches

Following last night’s AEW Dynamite, Sammy Guevara is in trouble. Also, Lance Storm wants intergender matches to stop sexual harassment problems in the business.

Sammy Guevara In Trouble

Serious heat is coming down on All Elite Wrestling’s Sammy Guevara after leaving Matt Hardy a bloody mess during a recent AEW Dynamite segment.

A chair tossed by Guevara at Hardy opened his head and led to an outpouring of blood. The chair climbed hardy and created a nasty cut on his head.

Many people backstage were not happy with the situation. In the end, Hardy needed 13 stitches to close the wound.

“Sammy got a very stern talking-to from a number of people who were very upset with this,” Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Radio. “Obviously he was not supposed to throw at full-force into Matt Hardy’s head.

“I don’t know what happened. I guess he got excited, but that was brutal.”

Reby Hardy, Matt’s wide, commented on the segment.

Hardy, meanwhile, offered his thanks to the medical team behind AEW for putting him back together.

“A huge thank you to (Doc Sampson) and the AEW Wrestling medical team for quickly repairing the painful, gaping hole on my face,” Hardy wrote on Twitter.

Later, Guevara commented on social media, stating “I told you this wasn’t over.”

Here’s a clip of the incident that led to the cut. As you notice, Hardy immediately reacted to the wound, but remained in the battle with Guevara.

In conclusion, accidents do happen in pro wrestling. But, AEW management probably told Guevara to be not so dangerous with weapons.

Still, Guevara is young and could be a future singles star for AEW. There have been some hurdles, but not repeating the same mistakes is the right step.

Wrestling Star Against Intergender Matches

Former WCW and WWE wrestler Lance Storm wants to see an end to intergender wrestling matches.

Storm, using the #SpeakingOut movement for his approach, says there are just too many issues with putting male wrestlers against female wrestlers. And now is the time to end it once and for all.

“I see some discussion on intergender wrestling matches again in light of #SpeakingOut,” Storm wrote on Twitter. “I think these matches have to stop. I’ve heard from so many women who are uncomfortable doing these but felt obligated to get booked because these matches were accepted ‘norms.'”

The post has received quite a bit of traffic for Storm, with the majority agreeing. However, some have come out in support of keeping intergender wrestling going.

“Lance Storm makes statements about Intergender Wrestling out of concern for women and is immediately criticized,” Shane Helms wrote. “Wrestling Twitter apparently will always be trash.”

While the WWE has shied away from it over the years, other promotions have used it. That includes Impact where Tessa Blanchard became the world champion.

Storm competed for 26 years in the sport before retiring in 2016 to begin the Storm Wrestling Academy in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The 51-year-old won the WWE Intercontinental title along with the tag team belts four times during his career.
