Meghan and Harry buy a mansion

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle brokered a sick deal on a lavish mansion in the Montecito neighborhood of Santa Barbara, California previously listed for $34 million by a Russian businessman.

The couple wanted a place of their own after months of living in the Beverly Hills, California mansion of Hollywood mogul Tyler Perry through a deal brokered by none other than Oprah.

Harry And Meghan Buy Santa Barbara Mansion

Page Six reported that Harry and Meghan just paid $14,650,000 for the 18,000-square-foot home that includes nine bedrooms and 16 bathrooms.

The home’s seller is reportedly Russian tycoon Sergey Grishin who bought the ‘palatial’ mansion back in 2009 for over $25 million.

The lavish home, know as ‘The Chateau’, sits on 5.4 acres and boasts a library, office, spa with a separate dry and wet sauna, a gym with a stripper pole, game room, arcade, theater, wine cellar and five-car garage according to previous listings.

Other features of ‘The Chateau’ include rose gardens, century-old olive trees, a tennis court, a tea house, children’s cottage, a pool and a carefully maintained border with stone-pillared entry gates.

In addition, the home has a guest house that many are speculating is perfect for Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland to move into. Meghan and Harry will also have some very famous neighbors in their new home.

Harry And Meghan Hobnob With Oprah And Ellen

The couple didn’t buy just any home. They’ll be living among the who’s who of Hollywood elite.

Harry and Meghan will now live in the same exclusive neighborhood as Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey.

A source spoke out to deny rumors that Harry had borrowed money from his family to buy the home.

“Meghan and Harry finally feel like they are on their own, and it feels great,” the source said. “They bought this house without help from his family, they aren’t using it on loan from a friend as they had before. It’s truly theirs and they can’t wait to make it a home.”

Meghan and Harry had spent months living in Perry’s $18 million mansion with their one- year-old son, Archie.

“Meghan and Harry were totally blown away by Tyler’s generosity,” an insider said. “They are so excited to truly begin their life together in California, but they’ll never forget the kindness that he showed them.”

Harry And Meghan Moved In Last Month

Though there had been much speculation that the couple was looking for a home in Los Angeles, a third source said earlier this week that they never actually planned to settle there. Instead, the source said that they have been quietly living in their new home since July.

“Harry and Meghan have been quietly living in their own home in Santa Barbara since early July,” the source explained. “They are not houseguests of Oprah or anyone else, they bought this home themselves. This is where they want to continue their lives after leaving the UK.”

“This is the first home either of them has ever owned. It has been a very special time for them as a couple and as a family — to have complete privacy for six weeks since they moved in,” the source continued. “They intend to put down their roots in this house and the quiet community, which has considerable privacy. This is where they want to bring Archie up, where they hope he can have as normal a life as possible.”

Real estate broker Jason Streatfeild said:

‘Harry and Meghan coming here will certainly create a buzz, but then we’re used to celebrities here.’

Did Anyone Help With Purchase?

“Harry and Meghan never intended to make Los Angeles their home. It was a good place for them to be upon their arrival in the US to be close to Meghan’s mom [who lives in LA],” the source concluded.

Sources may be claiming that Harry and Meghan bought this home without any help from his family, but this is very hard to believe given the fact that they don’t have any obvious source of income right now.

We would not be surprised at all if Harry’s father Prince Charles threw some cash his son’s way to help him and Meghan purchase their dream home.

Regardless of who paid for it, the fact that they bought this home at all indicates that Harry and Meghan have no plans to return to the U.K. anytime soon.

If the Queen had any hope that Harry might someday return to royal life, she probably should give that up now.
