UFC Fight Island 2: Rafael Fiziev’s Muay Thai Rules The Day

Rafael Fiziev is a coach at the renowned Tiger Muay Thai gym, and it was evident why he is, during his bout with Marc Diakiese.

Marc Diakiese hung in there and threatened Rafael Fiziev with big shots during their bout tonight at UFC Fight Island 2. But, Fiziev showcased again why his striking has considerable buzz tied to it.

Round one

Diakiese scored with a big calfkick early on that stumbled Fiziev. The latter pounded in a kick to the body not long after. Fiziev swept Diakiese  to the floor but was unable to score with anything from the top. The fight returned to its feet and Fiziev planted another, hard kick to the body. Another kick to the body by Fiziev and Diakiese shot in. Fiziev sprawled, however, and wound up on top.

Diakiese got back to his feet with a bloodied lip. Fiziev went to the body again before the round ended.

Round two

Diakiese threatened with a hard right moments in. Fiziev ducked out of the way of a headkick from Diakiese, Matrix style. Fiziev continued to stay busy with kicks. Moments later Fiziev just missed with a spinning backfist.

Diakiese clinched up later in the round and pushed Fiziev to the cage. Diakiese pushed off and the fight returned to the middle of the Octagon. Nice combo from Diakiese . Fiziev continued to move forward as the round came to an end.

Round three

Fiziev pounded in a couple more kicks and Diakiese fired back with punches. More kicks from Fiziev. The latter missed with a big right and changed levels, but Diakiese stepped away. Diakiese  spins with a kick but Fiziev ducked it once again. Diakiese looked to take it down but Fiziev defended nicely.

Diakiese tagged Fiziev with a huge right later in the round but he ate it well. Diakiese fired more heavy punches but Fiziev’s defense was on point. Diakiese came with knee in the final 30 seconds and Fiziev just missed with a kick.

Stronger round for Diakiese, but this should be Fiziev’s fight. Fiziev received the unanimous decision nod, as he should have.
