Kelvin Gastelum

Jack Hermansson needed less than two minutes to hand Kelvin Gastelum a third straight defeat on Saturday, and the latter is pretty embarrassed about what went down.

Gastelum posts statement following the quick loss

Shortly into the UFC Fight Island 2 bout, during a scramble on the ground, Hermansson locked up a heelhook on the middleweight contender. Gastelum tapped out moments later.

Following the defeat, which was Gastelum’s third straight, the former welterweight shared out this statement.

Truly embarrassed guys. I’m sorry. My team, my family @UFC @danawhite @Mickmaynard2.

I’m much better than what was shown tonight. Thanks to all my family , my team and my friends for the ongoing support. I love you all.

You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so u can know who u are, what u can rise from, how u can still come out of it.

What’s next for Gastelum?

It will be interesting to see what comes next for Gastelum. While three straight losses is a bad thing for any fighter, it’s important to note that Gastelum’s recent losses have come against top tier competition.

Heading into Saturday, he was coming off a split decision loss to former welterweight title challenger, Darren Till. Before that, he lost via decision to current middleweight champ, Israel Adesanya, in what was one of the best fights in recent years.
