Dana White Plans to Get Khamzat Chimaev “What he Wants”

Khamzat Chimaev fought two times in just just ten days on UFC Fight Island, and it looks like the rising fighter won’t have to wait long for his third, UFC bout.

White says Chimaev will “get what he wants”

The 26-year-old, Chechen born, Swedish fighter made his UFC debut at the promotion’s July 15th card on Yas Island, and submitted middleweight John Phillips. Then, just 10 days later, Chimaev ran through fellow, welterweight prospect Rhys McKee.

With the victories, Chimaev became the first fighter in UFC history to win two fights, in 10 days.

Well, now that the Fight Island cards are in the books, the July ones anyways, White spoke with ESPN. When he was asked who impressed him the most this past month, the UFC President was quick to name Chimaev (quotes via MMA Junkie).

“Khamzat,” White said. “I mean, you know? The guy is so dominant, so confident, wants to continue to fight every weekend. I love it.

I love guys with that mentality. I love how talented this guy is. We threw the hottest prospect out of the U.K. at him and that kid is a badass.

That kid is a legit great fighter. (Chimaev) made it look like he didn’t belong there. … The kid is legit. He’s real and he knows it and I love it.”

Recently it was reported that White was working on addding Chimaev to a card in August, and possibly UFC 252 on the 15th. When asked if Chimaev is going to fight next month, White said this.

“He said he wanted to fight and I said, ‘Done. I’ll make it happen,’” White said. “He wants to fight now again in August. I’m going to get him what he wants.”

Against who?

The big question is, who will Chimaev fight? White was asked if they’re looking at at welterweight contender, and once again, the UFC President praised the talented wrestler.

“That’s what we’re trying to figure out,” White said. “We were sitting in here this morning trying to figure out what we think is next.

If you ask this kid, he’s ready to fight Usman. You know what I mean? Is he ready for Usman? The way he looks, who knows? Maybe.”

Of course, Chimaev has a lot of work to do before he’s tapped for a title shot. But, could we see him against someone ranked in the top 15?

And how will he look if he’s tapped to fight someone with great wrestling themselves?
