Chan Sung Jung Blasts Alexander Volkanovski, Brian Ortega Responds

Following Alexander Volkanovski’s much-debated, razor-thin victory over Max Holloway at UFC 251, Chan Sung Jung was quick to pile on the featherweight champ. Well, the man who most people have been expecting ‘The Korean Zombie’ to fight next, Brian Ortega, was quick to respond.

Jung says Volkanovski’s a “shameful” champ

Volkanovski battled Holloway for a second time on Saturday night, and while he officially defeated ‘Blessed’ for a second time, not everyone is convinced he did. The Australian star retained the belt via split decision, but, many people seem to have scored the first three rounds for Holloway.

After the thrilling bot, ‘The Korean Zombie’ fired off this warning to the champ, via Instagram:

I am responding to yesterday’s title match against Volkanovski and Halloway. To be honest, it is shameful that Volkanovski is a champion of my weight class.

Give him to me then you don’t need to worry about the judges decision.

As you know, I won’t let the judges decide the result of my fight. I will finish him at the title match and that is what UFC fans want to watch.

Ortega responds to the ‘Korean Zombie’

Well, if you’ve followed Ortega and Jung over the preceding months, you know the two were supposed to fight last December. Ortega went down with a knee injury, however, and Jung ended up fighting and stopped Frankie Edgar.

The two have been feuding ever since, and the expectation is that they’re going to fight. More recently, Ortega called on Jung to sign the contract, but the latter noted he was unable to leave South Korea due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following Jung’s shot at Volkanovski, Ortega shared out this (warning graphic language).

How you gonna say I can’t fight cause I can’t leave my country then say you ready to fight all the sudden ??. I just talked to some of my people they said you can fly to United States and fly to Fight Island . ( by the way they live in Korea too ) .

So straight up you down to fight @danawhite said winner of us gets the tittle shot. If you ain’t down I ain’t trippen @danawhite give me another guy you want to see me fight to earn the title I don’t want free rides I earn my shit.

Now, one could argue here that Jung didn’t specifically mention a date for fighting Volkanovski. Further, circumstances may have changed, in regards to travel, since their last back-and-forth about fighting.

Might the UFC, however, look at having Jung challenge Volkanovski next? If so, you can’t blame the South Korean star if he takes the opportunity right?

The other possibility is that the UFC taps Zabit Magomedsharipov to face Volkanovski next? And Jung – Ortega will be a title shot eliminator.
