UFC on ESPN: Co-Main and Main Events

Man, give Karl Roberson and Marvin Vettori credit for making it exciting despite not carrying big-name value to this co-main event. As Vettori went for a choke early, Roberson scaled the Octagon and jumped into him to break the hold.

Moments later, Vettori took advantage, pounding away on Roberson before locking up the rear-naked choke and earning the first round submission. It was just over four minutes of action, but it was ALL ACTION!

It was an emotional win for Vettori, as the two had several interesting run-ins over the past few months.

The 26-year-old Vettori has won three in a row and five of eight inside the Octagon – including a draw – since signing in 2016.

Jessica Eye and Cynthia Calvillo made some history in the main event, marking the 400th fight in the UFC’s women’s division according to Jed I. Goodman. It was also the 29th UFC event to be headlined by a women’s division fight.

Nice back-and-forth round between these two to begin things, but it was Calvillo more disappointed between rounds. She appeared frustrated with herself and her performance.

Calvillo with a takedown in the second, gaining the advantage and working for a submission on Eye.

Thanks to her wrestling abilities, Calvillo weathered any storm put forth by Eye and picked up the decision win.
