Rob Lowe is known for being a former teen heart-throb who has enjoyed a decades-long career in Hollywood. Given how infamously liberal the world of Hollywood has become, it’s come as quite a surprise to fans that Lowe has just revealed that he is actually close friends with a conservative Supreme Court justice. Even better, Rob Lowe is proud to share the story of how he and conservative SCOTUS justice Clarence Thomas became friends.
Lowe made this revelation while appearing on the podcast “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend,” where he told host Conan O’Brien that he is actually planning to launch his own podcast.
Lowe added that on his show, he plans to book guests who fans may be “surprised I’m friends with.” That’s when he dropped the SCOTUS bomb!
“The West Wing” actor proceeded to shock O’Brien by revealing that he is close friends with none other than Justice Clarence Thomas.
“Are you guys really close?” a clearly stunned O’Brien asked.
“See. Look at those eyes. That eye vein popped,” Lowe exclaimed. “But he’s a guy people go, ‘You know him?'”

“Wait, you know him?” O’Brien asked again, not able to get over the fact that the two would be friends.
“I do know him. I got inducted into the Horatio Alger Society a couple years ago. … It’s a very exclusive, very amazing society that provides scholarships for kids who come from terrible, terrible backgrounds,” Lowe explained.
“But they are the best and the brightest in their classes,” the “Parks And Recreation” actor added. “And the people in it are pretty studly. He’s one of them. That’s how we met. They put the medal on me in the halls of the Supreme Court.”

“Wow. OK,” a perturbed O’Brien said.
It was obvious that the host wanted Lowe to denounce Thomas because of his conservative values. But, Lowe refused to do anything but stand by the friendship.
“The reason I bring it up is he’s one of those people who occupies such a perception in people’s minds and he’s like, ‘If you ever need anything, call my number. This is my cell phone,” Lowe recounted. “And then my son Matthew was going to law school. So I had some ideas about clerking and things like that.”
“So I call this cell phone and he answers it. And you’re like, ‘Geeze. Shouldn’t there be, like, a vetting process?’ And 45 minutes he’s giving me advice on what my son should do vis-a-vis law school and clerking,” he added.
In the past, Lowe has taken a stand the Pledge Of Allegiance when the board of trustees at Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) wanted to ban the Pledge of Allegiance at board meetings.
It’s so refreshing to see a Hollywood star be unapologetically friends with a top conservative and standing up for conservative values.
