Details On Renee Young’s Positive COVID Test, WWE Finds Loophole

Unfortunately, Renee Young has tested positive for COVID-19. Also, WWE has found a loophole to avoid people from wearing masks on TV.

Details On Renee Young’s Positive COVID Test

To say it has been a trying and difficult week for WWE superstar Renee Young would be a drastic understatement. The company has been dealing with several issues and COVID-19 remains one of them.

Young confirmed that her show, “WWE Backstage,” was canceled. The program aired on FOX Sports 1.

After noting that, Young also confirmed that she tested positive for COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus.

“Man. What a few days. My show gets cancelled and I get Covid,” Young posted on Twitter. “Wear your masks and wash your hands. Stay safe, everyone.”

Young took the test earlier this week and became made aware of her positive result on Tuesday, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio. She was exposed to the virus last week, but did not begin showing symptoms until a few days later.

Jon Moxley’s AEW Status

Jon Moxley, the reigning All Elite Wrestling champion, is Young’s husband. Meltzer reports that it was mentioned he place himself under quarantine in a hotel room, but Moxley declined.

Tony Khan confirmed that Moxley “had contact with someone who had contact with someone who has COVID-19.”

“Mox did the right thing & warned us,” Khan posted on Twitter. “Doc asked him to stay home & get tested to protect us here at our test site.”

Moxley feels if might already have been exposed and contracted the virus, he just has not shown symptoms yet. Therefore, stay tuned to see if the virus effects his title defense against Brian Cage.

Moxley vs. Cage will conclude the two week event known as Fyter Fest on TNT TV. If Moxley is unable to work, AEW will have to make some major changes.

In recent days, numerous WWE superstars and officials have reportedly been tested positive for COVID-19. Young was working at the WWE Performance Center where it has been confirmed for positive results.

Bret Hart was one of the last guests on WWE Backstage.

Young, a 34-year-old formerly worked for Sportsnet 360 as a sportscaster. She debuted in the WWE on SmackDown in 2013.

WWE Finds Loophole

Residents of Orange County in Florida are required to wear masks due to a recent positive surge in COVID-19. Those associated with WWE, though, are able to avoid the executive order.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, a loophole that was found by the promotion is allowing them to take advantage of the situation.

“WWE told me that the rule where everyone who leaves their house unless they’re exercising has to wear masks. They believe that it does not apply to them because they operate in a private facility,” Meltzer said. “That’s what I was told.”

WWE’s Performance Center, which is located in Orlando, Florida, has been used for the past few months to filming television.

A recent report found half of the COVID-19 cases in Orange County have been diagnosed with the past two weeks. That would follow the state re-opening earlier this month to allow more public use.

In summary, WWE does not want to stop taping content for any of their brands. But, Florida does not seem like the safest state to hold any events with a large group of people.
