Heavyweight boxing champ Tyson Fury has expressed an interest in stepping into the Octagon before, and while it remains to be seen if that actually happens, it looks like it will be an option in the latest UFC video game.
Recently Forbes reported that according to sources, Fury will be available for selection in EA’s UFC 4. Following the UFC’s latest event this past weekend, Dana White was asked whether Fury, and his last opponent, Deontay Wilder, will be featured in the game (quotes via MMA Fighting).
“What? Where are you hearing this sh*t,” White asked. “Tyson Fury might be.”
So, that kind of sounds like a yes. But we’ll see. White also confirmed that the official announcement for UFC 4 will be done on July 11th, when UFC 251 goes down on Yas Island.
Last year, Fury said he was looking at competing in a MMA fight, before he started calling for a bout with modified rules. UFC heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic also expressed an interest in fighting Fury, and in a boxing match.
Ultimately, however, Fury stayed in the boxing lane. The British pugilist is coming off a seventh-round, stoppage win over Wilder in February.
Wilder reportedly enacted his rematch clause, but there’s also been talk about an all-star bout between Fury and Anthony Joshua materializing. So, in other words, don’t expect to see the 31-year-old Fury (30-0-1) throwing hands – for real – in the Octagon anytime soon.
