Al Sharpton Hijacks George Floyd Funeral To Demand NFL ‘Give Colin Kaepernick A Job Back’

Reverend Al Sharpton hijacked the funeral of George Floyd on Tuesday to push his own race-baiting political agenda, launching an attack on NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and demanding the league “give Colin Kaepernick a job back.”

While speaking at Floyd’s funeral in Houston, Texas, Sharpton inexplicably took the opportunity to attack Goodell.

Sharpton said Goodell gave an “empty apology” a few days ago in regard the NFL’s handling of Kaepernick and other NFL players who took a knee during the national anthem.

“The head of the NFL said, ‘Yeah, maybe we was wrong. Football players, maybe they did have the right to peacefully protest.’ Well, don’t apologize, give Colin Kaepernick a job back,” Sharpton said.

“Don’t come with some empty apology,” he added. “Take a man’s livelihood. Strip a man down of his talents. And four years later, when the whole world is marching, all of a sudden you go and do a FaceTime, talk about you sorry. Minimizing the value of our lives. You sorry, then repay the damage you did to the career you stood down, ’cause when Colin took a knee, he took it for for the families in this building. And we don’t want an apology. We want him repaired.”

NFL Commish Roger Goodell’s Apology

This came days after Goodell took to Twitter to post a lengthy video apology. In the video, Goodell apologized for not being more supportive of Kaepernick’s efforts to protest racial inequality in the United States by taking a knee during the national anthem.

Goodell condemned racism in the video apology, “We, the National Football League, condemn racism and the systematic oppression of black people.”

The league commissioner also directly addressed the anthem kneeling protests. Goodell added, “We, the National Football League, admit we were wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier and encourage all to speak out and peacefully protest.”

President Trump Fires Back About Colin Kaepernick’s Anthem Kneeling

President Donald Trump himself fired back at Goodell’s apology video.

Trump tweeted in response, “Could it be even remotely possible that in Roger Goodell’s rather interesting statement of peace and reconciliation, he was intimating that it would now be O.K. for the players to KNEEL, or not to stand, for the National Anthem, thereby disrespecting our Country & our Flag?”

First of all, it’s nothing short of shameful that Al Sharpton hijacked the funeral of George Floyd and made it all about himself and his race-baiting agenda.

Floyd and his tragic death had nothing to do with Kaepernick or the NFL. So bringing up the issue of kneeling during the national anthem at his funeral is a new low, even for Sharpton.

Secondly, contrary to what Sharpton and his fellow liberals say, there is nothing brave or heroic about kneeling during the national anthem.

Regardless of why Kaepernick says he did it, kneeling during the national anthem is long held as a sign of disrespect to the American flag and those who have fought for it.

And so the act has no place in American sports and thus should not be tolerated in the NFL or anywhere else.
