Katlyn Chookagian

Fresh off a dominating performance over Antonina Shevchenko, Katlyn Chookagian revealed she has a fever.

No, nothing related to the coronavirus pandemic.

Chookagian, who was unable to unseat UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko, downed her sister at UFC on ESPN 9 Saturday night.

“I still have so much fight fever,” she said. “I also have baby fever, so I want to try to get these fights in when I can. I’ll fight anyone in the division.”

The 31-year-old was unable to overcome Valentina Shevchenko back at UFC 247, falling via TKO in the third round. She worked her way up the ladder with wins over Joanne Calderwood and Jennifer Maia, and now owns a victory over the sister of the champion.

For the better part of the bout, Chookagian held her own on the ground, dominating Shevchenko and controlling the action.

“I feel like I haven’t been able to show my full potential in the UFC,” she said. “I think I did that. It feels really good. I’ve never doubted my jiu-jitsu as I am a brown belt, but I never showed it either because I didn’t put my wrestling together.

“Those were my first takedowns in the UFC.”
