Henry Cejudo shocked the MMA world Saturday night at UFC 249 twice.
First, Cejudo defended the bantamweight title, becoming only the second UFC fighter to defend titles in two weight classes, when he finished Dominick Cruz in the second round.
Moments later, Cejudo announced his decision to retire from the sport.
“Since I was 11 years old I sacrificed to get where I am today,” he said. “And I’m not going to let anyone take that away from me. I’m retiring from MMA.
“‘Triple C’ is out. You don’t have to hear my ass no more.”

Cejudo won the flyweight title over Demetrious Johnson and defended it with a victory over T.J. Dillashaw. After Dillashaw was stripped of the bantamweight belt, he bested Marlon Moraes to become a two-division champion.
The UFC urged Cejudo to focus on one division and he elected to vacate the flyweight belt.
Cruz, a former WEC and UFC champion, was returning from an extended layoff due to injuries. He appeared set to present Cejudo with a stiff challenge, but the fight was called off with two seconds left in the second round by the referee.
