Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is not done yet.
“The Spider” confirmed on social media that he recently underwent surgery to repair his knee. And the legendary fighter has promised to return to action once more.
“I finished my knee surgery. I will recover now,” Silva said in Portuguese (thanks to MMA Fighting for transcribing). “I’m fine, and wanted to thank everyone’s support, and (thank) my fans that cheer for me. I’ll be 100 percent soon, and do my two fights in the UFC. I wanted to thank every UFC fan. I finished my surgery and everything is fine, I’m going home. Thanks.”
The 45-year-old Silva owns just one victory since a 2012 win over Stephan Bonnar while he was still the UFC middleweight champion. During that time, he has lost six other bouts and had a no-contest with Nick Diaz declared.
In early 2019, the Brazilian battled current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya to a three-round decision, but was finished by Jared Cannonier last May. His lone win during his stretch came in 2017 vs. Derek Brunson.
