Dean Ambrose Refers To The Undertaker As “A Comic Book Character”

The Boneyard Match had a massive impact on the wrestling world – wrestlers and fans are still talking about it. One of the wrestlers who responded is former WWE superstar Dean Ambrose.

The Undertaker Is A Comic Book Character

During an interview with Fightful Select, Dean Ambrose aka Jon Moxley (AEW) gave his opinion on the infamous Boneyard Match. He had nothing but praise for The Undertaker, but chose a rather weird statement to show his admiration.

“I enjoyed the Boneyard Match; and I thought that was cool. I thought that was really cool, too, because the Undertaker is a really beloved character. He’s like a comic book character.”

When I first heard about the statement from Jon Moxley, I thought it was an insult. Fortunately, this is not the case and it is actually one of the biggest compliments a wrestler could get today.

There is no denying that the Boneyard Match had an impact on the wrestling universe, more than AJ Styles or even The Undertaker can imagine. It shows that matches like that could be considered for the future, even outside of the pandemic.

In addition to the Boneyard Match, there were other special matches, including the one between John Cena and Bray Wyatt. That being said, none stood out as much as the Boneyard Match.

Vince Had No Idea, But AJ Styles Did!

Recently, Wrestle Newz revealed that AJ Styles had a special request for the match. By involving a production team he knew from Impact Wrestling, the match arguably became one of the most memorable special matches in history.

So, thanks to the creativity of AJ Styles, The Undertaker and their chosen production team, the Boneyard Match will go down in history. Vince may have sanctioned it, but it took a team to make this match as great as it was!

Props to everyone involved! Still, we wonder if we will see anything like this again in the future.

Where’s Dean Ambrose These Days?

If you only watch WWE, then you may be wondering why I am saying “Dean Ambrose aka Jon Moxley.” Well, I am saying “Dean Ambrose aka Jon Moxley” because the wrestler left the WWE and changed his name to join a rival promotion.

Since his departure, Moxley has been one of the most prominent figures in AEW. In fact, he is the current AEW World Champion. So, if you want to catch a glimpse of the former Shield member, AEW is the promotion to watch.

Iconic Wrestlers Throughout WWE History

Very few wrestlers reach iconic status in the WWE. While many get called a “legend,” only a small percentage reaches the “iconic” status.

The Undertaker is undoubtedly one of the wrestlers who obtained iconic status over the years. Other wrestlers that captured that honor are men like Hulk Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage, Ric Flair to name just a few.

Of course, you do not turn into an iconic wrestler overnight, it takes a huge amount of sacrifice. Just take a look at the latest Undertaker: The Last Ride documentary.
