WWE’s chairman Vince McMahon got a new nickname in the form of “Screw it Vince.” Vince’s backstage bad moods were widely reported last week, but that just seems like the beginning of a serious problem now.
Vince’s appearance on SmackDown appearance surprised many fans and they shared their bewilderment on social media.
The company acknowledged Triple H’s 25th year of working for the WWE and subsequently, gave him a special segment during SmackDown Live. However, it didn’t go as many people expected.
The WWE’s chairman came out during Triple H’s celebration only to roast him to a whole new degree. Unfortunately, many fans did not follow the segment.
As Vince’s segment was all over the place, an insider claims Vince has been like this for weeks. So, his backstage mood seems to be the tip of the iceberg.
As you can see from the message from the insider, Vince now has a new nickname — “Screw it Vince.” However, the insider message also revealed other interesting information.
If the insider is correct, the WWE chairman might be buckling under stress. Since the start of the pandemic, his XFL business went bankrupt and the biggest wrestling event of the year was completely changed. This could be what’s leading to Vince’s issues that we’re seeing.
The bankruptcy of the XFL is not the only thing that is bothering Vince at the moment. In fact, the WWE has been getting loads of bad press over the past couple of weeks.
Shortly after the XFL bankruptcy, more bad news followed for the WWE. First, there were some allegations of a anonymous staff member claiming staff was being forced to work.
After that allegation, an increasingly large number of people doubted the “essential business” status of the WWE. There are even claims that current POTUS Donald Trump had a hand in naming the WWE an essential business.
And the scandals kept continuing, as Velveteen Dream is accused of sending inappropriate photographs to minors. The Dream took to Twitter to deny the allegations, but the WWE is surprisingly quiet about the incident at the moment.
While fans are quite divided on the subject, it is bad press for the WWE nonetheless. At the moment, there is no real evidence that Velveteen Dream did the acts he is accused of doing.
There is no denying that the WWE is encountering loads of bad press at the moment, a lot of which has been self-inflicted. As I’ve mentioned numerous times before, it will be a busy time for the PR department.
But where does this leave Vince McMahon? I think we will know in the weeks to come.
