Tim Allen Last Man Standing season 8 finale

“Last Man Standing” star Tim Allen has just opened up about how he is a family man both on and off the screen. Not only does he play a family man on his hit FOX sitcom, Allen is also one in real life!

How Tim Allen’s ‘Last Man Standing’ Character Mirrors His Real Life

Tim Allen opened up to Fox News this week about what his role on the television show has meant to him as the father of two children himself. The comedic actor is dad to Katherine, 31, and Elizabeth, 11.

Allen explained that he and his fellow castmates find it “startling” that they have finished eight seasons of “Last Man Standing”.

“Although [the ‘Last Man Standing’ cast] doesn’t replace the wonderful the beautiful ‘Home Improvement’ family that I still am close to, this family is now, we’re empty nesters,” Allen said. “Everybody at the show … has grown up…”

Relating To His Character

Allen added that he can compare what his character is going through to his own experiences.

“We had an episode … where we had to change Eve’s [Kaitlyn Dever] room and it reminded me of real life,” he stated, referring to the daughter of his character moving away. “You know, your kid’s not coming back. They’ll visit, they’re not going anywhere, but they’re not coming back to the bedroom they grew up in.”

“It was really a hard one for me to do based on my oldest daughter, when she left,” he added.

Tim Allen Misses Mike Rowe

Allen also misses other people who have appeared on the show as well.

“Certainly I miss Mike Rowe, who played my brother in maybe one or two episodes, he’s been so busy,” Tim Allen said.

The Santa Clause actor said he would now like to continue the “what Mike Baxter did” segments from the series’ earlier episodes.

“This started where the guy that I play did ‘Planet Earth’ videos for his store. He was in Antarctica and all over the world to do a live location to kind of remind everybody that this is a University of Michigan marketing graduate, but also he’s toured the world,” Allen concluded. “And just if we would do a location, kind of remind us [that what] Outdoor Man signified was a bit more of a ‘Planet Earth’ perspective.”

The finale for season 8 of “Last Man Standing” airs tonight at 8pm on FOX.

If you’re looking for some good old-fashioned fun that the whole family can enjoy, we can’t recommend this show highly enough!
