Rusev And Aiden English Reuniting On The Indies With Rusev Day?

Rusev and Aiden English were a brilliant team until the WWE split them up. While we have not seen both men working together for a while, they could be reuniting on the indies.

The Invention Of Rusev Day

You may remember that Aiden English was the man who made Rusev Day popular. Using his unique voice, he promoted Rusev alongside Lana. 

If you don’t remember, here is a little throwback:

Despite the popularity of the gimmick, Rusev and Aiden English were broken up by the WWE. Aiden English was eventually assigned to the commentary team. 

Over the course of time, the WWE used Rusev less and less. After his release, it is clear they were successful in phasing The Bulgarian Brute out.

Not The End For Rusev Day?

Both Rusev and Aiden English were released on Black Wednesday, alongside countless other wrestlers and WWE staff.

Of course, this brings a unique opportunity for both men.

In a recent interview with Kenny McIntosh from Inside The Ropes, Aiden admitted that Rusev and himself discussed the idea of working together in the indies:

“Obviously that day, we exchanged texts and stuff like that and all I can say is one of those texts did pose the question, ‘Rusev Day indie world tour?’ So, the opportunity is there. Let us know if that’s something you guys would like to see.”

We are super excited at the possibility of Rusev Day returning to the indies. Of course, there might be some obstacles before that may happen.

One of the biggest obstacles is that the names of both men are trademarked by the WWE. A recent search showed that Rusev’s trademark was filed in 2014 and is currently still active.

If Rusev and Aiden English wish to reunite, they would have to do so under a different name. Nevertheless, it could give both men a little creative freedom when it comes to their new names and gimmicks in the future.

Big Loss For The WWE

I don’t have to tell you what a big loss this is for the WWE. Rusev Day could have turned massive profits and they did not even have to push these superstars.

Over the years, the WWE made some questionable decisions. When it comes to releasing superstars with potential and exceptional dedicated to the craft, Rusev and Aiden English are prime examples.

While the WWE refused to use Rusev and Aiden English together, their loss could be the gain of another promotion. Imagine Rusev Day at AEW or other promotions such as NJPW or Ring of Honor.

Rusev and Aiden English are potential money-making machines and this is clear for every promotion out there. The question is, will Rusev and Aiden sign with a new promotion or take their services to various indie promotions like some other wrestlers.

I am excited to see what the future brings for Aiden and Rusev. Of course, I still think Lana is missing from the equation, but they will succeed without her, too.
