Ricky Gervais Slams Celebs Seeking Attention During Coronavirus Quarantine

Comedian Ricky Gervais has had enough with pretentious star-studded temper tantrums and he’s brought the hammer down on them.

While society as we knew it is shut down to stop the spread of coronavirus, celebrities are taking a big hit — in their own minds.

They aren’t getting the attention they demand and feel entitled to. This has brought on very dramatic social media posts as they seek refuge in their mansions during the pandemic.

Ricky Gervais Calls Out Hypocrisy

Gervais isn’t afraid to call out Hollywood’s hypocrisy. He hosted the Golden Globes earlier this year and instead of praising Tinseltown’s elite, he skewered them all in memorable fashion.

Celebrities are griping about being caged in their palaces within gated communities while many Americans not only are confined to their homes but are also suddenly unemployed.

The 58-year-old comedian told the Sun:

“After this is over, I never want to hear people moaning about the welfare state again, I never want to hear people moaning about nurses again. Or porters.”

Sam Smith Cries In His London Home

Like other celebrities who are used to being the center of attention, singer Sam Smith is having a challenging time being isolated in his posh London home.

Smith must feel he is a larger than life person as he uses the pronoun “they” rather than him.

Smith posted pictures of himself having a quarantine meltdown over being locked up inside his luxurious home.

“Stages of a quarantine meltdown,” Smith said in the caption. But, his self-righteous tears are called out in the comments.

One commenter said, “Try sitting at home not knowing where your next wage is coming from struggling to keep a roof over your family’s head. Then you’d cry.”

The singer couldn’t handle being challenged, so he deleted the post entirely.

But, Ricky Gervais noticed Smith’s and other celebrities’ cries for attention. The comedian doesn’t feel any celebrity has a right to whine about his situation when those working in the medical community are risking their lives during the pandemic.

“These people are doing 14-hour shifts and not complaining,” Gervais said about the healthcare workers. “Wearing masks, and being left with sores, after risking their own health and their families’ health selflessly.”

“But then I see someone complaining about being in a mansion with a swimming pool,” Gervais continued “And, you know, honestly, I just don’t want to hear it.”

Piers Morgan Also Slams Sam Smith

Ricky wasn’t the only one to call out Sam Smith for his absurd temper tantrum. Piers Morgan also smacked the singer on Twitter, telling him and the other whiners to get a grip.

Sam has been trying to do some public relations damage control, but he still doesn’t appear to get it. He shared a video on Twitter shortly before Morgan’s tweet. He called it a “weird time” and referred to struggling emotionally with being stuck inside. He’s definitely out of touch.

It is a difficult time for many. However, celebrities tend to forget how good they have it. Yet they have the gall to complain.

However, some celebrities are stepping up and donating masks like Matthew McConaughey, some are entertaining us from their confines like Carson Daly, and then you have Ellen who’s suffering in her “prison.”
