Harrison Ford Under Investigation By FAA After Close Call At Airport

The Federal Aviation Association (FAA) has just opened an investigation into Hollywood star Harrison Ford for an incident that happened while the 77 year-old legend was piloting his plane in California this week. This harrowing incident occurred just a few years after Harrison’s Ford infamous plane crash at a busy LA golf course.

Harrison Ford Placed Under Investigation By The FAA

A spokesman for the Indiana Jones star told Fox News that Ford, who has been an avid flyer for years, was involved in a “runway incursion” that occurred on April 24 at the Hawthorne Airport in Southern California.

“Mr. Ford crossed the airport’s only runway in his aircraft after he misheard a radio instruction from ATC. He immediately acknowledged the mistake and apologized to ATC for the error,” the rep said.

“The purpose of the flight was to maintain currency and proficiency in the aircraft.”

The spokesman went on to say that thankfully, nobody was injured in the incident, and that there was “never any danger of a collision.”

However, TMZ has since obtained audio that shows just how dangerous the incident really was.

Audio Reveals Chaos Of Near Runway Collision

In the audio, Ford can be heard failing to follow the tower operator’s clear instruction to “hold short” on the runway due to “traffic” as he taxied the runway while at the controls of his aircraft.

The control tower operator then starts yelling at the Star Wars actor for ignoring his directions.

“Get across that runway now! I told you to hold short! You need to listen up,” the operator screams.

“Excuse me, sir, I thought exactly the opposite. I’m terribly sorry,” Ford responded.

Reports have since confirmed that another plane was just 3,600 feet from Ford’s, meaning this situation easily could have turned devastating in a matter of seconds.

Harrison Ford’s 2015 Plane Crash

This isn’t the first time that Ford has run into trouble while piloting a plane, as he infamously crashed his vintage World War II plane into a Los Angeles golf course back in 2015.

Harrison Ford’s plane crash was witnessed by workers on the course, who said that the pilot (Ford) was careful to crash without hitting anyone.

“We saw the plane coming down,” employee Luis Rivera told Page Six. “The course was packed with golfers. You could tell the pilot saw them and maneuvered to avoid them.”

“There was blood all over his face,’’ golf course worker Howard Tabe added to NBC News. “Two very fine doctors were treating him, taking good care of him. I helped put a blanket under his hip.’’

The actor walked away with only minor injuries, much to everyone’s surprise. Undeterred by this experience, Ford returned to flying just three months later.

Maybe it’s time the FAA consider a competency review. Harrison Ford should be held to the same standard as every pilot.

And safety should be the priority when you’re piloting 12,000 or so pounds of metal.
