Rani Yahya Vs. Enrique Barzola

Round 1: Both Yahya and Barzola are coming off losses, making this a key bout in the career of the two bantamweights. Yahya with an early advantage, working for a leglock on the ground. Barzola, though, has been able to do some damage with short strikes and keep his limbs secure for now. Yahya tries to roll into something, loses position but maintain a body-lock to drag this one back down.

Round 2: Barzola gets a little out of control and Yahya takes advantage, earning another takedown and with over four minutes to work a submission. Just a completely grinding effort on the ground by Yahya to dominate and wear out Barzola. Even if he survives these final 90 seconds, he might be too exhausted to do much.

Just as that happens, though, Barzola slips free and earns his own takedown. Yahya rolls, but pulls guard with a minute remaining and into half-guard. They finish on the feet with Barzola getting the better of that exchange.

Round 3: Barzola took back the momentum at the very end of the round and will need that to carry over. And it does, as Barzola drops him with a shot and follows up with knees on the ground. Yahya looking for a leg to work for a submission as he eats more shots. Barzola seeking a kimura on the left arm but is forced to release it. Again looking for the kimura while also doing damage with shots to the face of Yahya, who is bleeding.

Barzola in side control and peppering Yahya with ground-and-pound. All Yahya can do is hang on to the leg of Barzola as he continues to be dominated. Barzola looking for another kimura as he maintains a possible 10-8 round with his control. Barzola working the leg, first for a knee-bar followed by a heel-hook. He’s unable to lock in either, but remains on top.
