Tim Allen Opens Up About How He’s Been Sober For 22 Years

Tim Allen is known for being one of the funniest actors in Hollywood, and for being one of the few stars who isn’t afraid to poke fun at liberals and express his conservative views. Especially on his popular Fox sitcom “Last Man Standing”. This week, Tim Allen opened up about his life like never before to discuss how his 22 years of sobriety, which has undoubtedly been a huge reason behind his success.

Tim Allen Opens Up About His Sobriety

“I’ve been drugs- and alcohol-free for about 22 years,” Allen, 66, said in an interview on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that was filmed earlier this month but aired on Thursday.

“Because I had money and I was a star, people help, they enable you to get by,” Allen continued, according to Fox News. “The program I practice, it’s all about as soon as you get it, you gotta give it away. A kid can’t hold on to all these toys, and every time he sees a new toy, and he goes, ‘Mine,’ you gotta drop one of those before you can grab another one.”

The comedian went on to admit that “it doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a day-to-day thing.”

Allen Discusses “Home Improvement”

Allen also talked to Clarkson about his beloved sitcom “Home Improvement,” saying that fans still come up to him asking him to do his signature grunt.

“It’s grunt for me,” he said. “Like I’m one of those little monkeys that does this [clapping hands].”

Allen has many stories of humorous fan interactions that have happened over the years.

“I’m up in Sacramento and my wife and I were going through town and the guy across the streets goes ‘Oh, hey!’ — which I like when people think I have to turn around when they just yell ‘Hey!'” he recalled. “I [turn around] and he goes ‘you… tool belt!’… and I went ‘Claw hammer…”

“This world is not like it was in ‘Home Improvement,'” Allen later said of the importance of the show. “In ‘Home Improvement,’ I believe 24 million viewers on a Tuesday night.”

The Space Shuttle Story

He also reminisced about once live simulcasting an episode on the Space Shuttle Endeavour.

“It looked like it was phony,” he remembered. “It looked like it was floating around in there, doing a tool time. I’ve got all the stuff at my shop, I’m a space freak. I just love that stuff and I said ‘What kind of money was this? Who did this?’ where they’re floating around because the joke was: I was doing a tool time and they’re all sleepy because it was so boring.”

Allen added that they really did shoot the episode live from the Space Shuttle Endeavour.

We applaud Tim Allen for speaking so openly about his sobriety. Allen’s openness and down to earth attitude is so refreshing in Hollywood, which seems to be full of leftwing elite narcissists more than ever these days.

We truly do need more celebrities in the world like Tim Allen!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
