A breaking news report out of the UK revealed that one of Queen Elizabeth’s royal aides tested positive for coronavirus right before the 93 year-old monarch left Buckingham Palace to go into self-isolation at Windsor Castle last week.
According to The Sun, the unnamed Buckingham Palace staffer tested positive for the virus while the Queen was still at the London residence. It is not known how close the staffer got to the queen, but every aide who came into contact with the unnamed individual has now been placed in self-isolation as well.
“The worker tested positive before the Queen left for Windsor,” a palace source said. “But the Palace has 500 members of staff so, like any workplace, it’s not inconceivable it would be affected in some stage.”
The palace itself refused to give much information on the situation.
“We wouldn’t comment on individual members of staff,” a palace spokesman said. “In line with the appropriate guidance and our own processes, we have taken the necessary actions to protect all employees and people involved.”
The Queen can be seen leaving Buckingham Palace with her one of her cherished dorgis, a dachshund-corgi mix, in the tweet below.
The Queen cancelled all upcoming royal events and is set to remain at Windsor Castle with her 98 year-old husband Prince Philip indefinitely.
Given the advanced ages of the Queen and Philip, they are considered high risk for having a serious reaction to coronavirus should they become infected. So it’s crucial that the royal couple avoid exposure at all costs.
The Queen will reportedly give a televised statement in the near future about coronavirus. Not surprisingly, both royal and government officials feel that the Queen’s leadership could do wonders to ease anxieties in the United Kingdom during this time.
“The voice of Her Majesty will provide calm reassurance that, ultimately, we will get through this,” a source with the British government said.
The Queen released a statement to try and calm the public over the pandemic last week.

News that a royal aide who was in the same residence as the Queen tested positive for coronavirus is nothing short of terrifying. One creative Twitter user even imagined the beloved Queen in coordinating face masks to remind us all to stay safe and take precautions.
All we can do is hope and pray that the Queen Elizabeth II did not come in contact with this aide or anyone they might have infected.
The last thing this world needs is for Her Majesty the Queen to come down with this virus herself.
