Michelle McCool Angry About Being Snubbed By The WWE

Michelle McCool was rightfully upset this week as the WWE celebrated women’s history month without her. On their website, they placed 45 photographs of iconic women in wrestling. Only, Michelle McCool’s photograph was nowhere to be found.

Michelle McCool Not Mentioned For Women’s History Month

The WWE put up 45 photographs of iconic women in wrestling. But, there was not a single photograph of Michelle McCool. Several iconic women were mentioned though including Beth Phoenix, Alundra Blaze, and other former women’s wrestlers. So, why is Michelle missing? To express her discontent with the line-up, Michelle took to social media:

It is sad she does not get the recognition she deserves. She may be married to The Undertaker, but she is her own person with her own achievements.

The Honors Michelle McCool Deserves!

Since the WWE does not appreciate Michelle McCool’s contributions to wrestling, let’s give her the honors she deserves.

Michelle started her wrestling career in the developmental territory of the WWE. She joined the company through the 2004 Diva Search. While she took a loss against Christy Hemme, she signed with the company shortly afterwards.

McCool made her main roster debut in 2006 on SmackDown. Playing the role of “sexy teacher,” she stood out as a heel immediately. While she had some exposure between 2006 and 2008, her big opportunity only arrived in 2008.

In 2008, Michelle McCool became the All American Diva. On July 4th, she faced Natalya for the WWE Divas Champion and won at The Great American Bash. This means she was the very first WWE Divas Champion.

After many successful defenses, Michelle would eventually lose her championship to Maryse in December. It led to another heel turn and the WWE women’s championship belt. Interestingly, this means Michelle was the first woman to have held both belts.

Michelle’s Retirement

Michelle McCool retired from wrestling in 2011 after being beaten by Layla at Extreme Rules. Despite her retirement, she has made a few appearances in the WWE since then. One of the appearances was at the 2018 women’s Royal Rumble and the Evolution pay-per-view.

Michelle has made quite a few media appearances before and after her retirement. She was in six episodes of Family Feud. She also appeared on Project Runway alongside Maria Kanellis, Candice Michelle, and Torrie Wilson. In addition to her most notable media appearances, Michelle was also featured in The Best Damn Sports Show Period, Muscle & Fitness, and Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader.

Should The WWE Rectify This?

Since she was the first woman to win the Divas Championship and the first woman who ever held both the Divas Championship and Women’s Championship, I don’t understand how she was passed over. While I understand that not all women can be mentioned as trailblazers, Michelle McCool certainly stand out.

Maybe the WWE should do a special on Michelle McCool? It is certainly something I would watch on the WWE Network. Heck, it is the perfect way to rectify this situation!
