Case Closed: ‘Judge Judy’ To End After 25 Seasons Following Bloomberg Endorsement

Judge Judy’s historic run on television is coming to a close. 77-year-old Judith Sheindlin, who brought her no-nonsense brand of justice into our homes for 25 years, will make the announcement today on “Ellen”. This is yet another curveball for Judge Judy fans still reeling from her campaign for 2020 Democrat Mike Bloomberg.

Judge Judy To Announce Final Season On Ellen

The feisty TV judge will end her long-running “Judge Judy” family court program in 2021 after the 25th season finishes airing. Sheindlin said the last year will be “the best year yet.” She believes it will be ending on a high note with a fitting end. Sheindlin is scheduled to make an announcement regarding the show’s demise on Monday on “Ellen.”

“I’ve had a 25-year-long marriage with CBS and it’s been successful,” she reportedly told Ellen DeGeneres. “Next year will be our 25th season, silver anniversary, and CBS, I think felt they wanted to optimally utilize the repeats of my program. Because now they have 25 years of reruns. So, what they decided to do was to sell a couple of years worth of reruns. But I’m not tired, so ‘Judy Justice’ will be coming out a year later.”

This surprise announcement comes just after the beloved TV judge endorsed Michael Bloomberg for President.

The courtroom star who currently pulls in a whopping $47 million per year has already lined up a new show called “Judy Justice.” Reportedly, the new show will not follow the same format as the longstanding courtroom drama Judge Judy fans have come to expect.

Sheindlin teased that the “Judy Justice” will come out a year later but declined to give specifics on when or where.

Of course, CBS bought the full Judge Judy episode library in 2017, so the courtroom star has some healthy royalties to look forward to from those reruns as well.
