Greta Thunberg Reveals It’s ‘Extremely Likely’ She Has Coronavirus – Goes Into Self-Isolation

Swedish teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg shocked her fans today when she revealed that she may have coronavirus and has gone into self-isolation with her father.

Daily Mail reported that Thunberg, 17, took to Instagram to reveal that both she and her dad, actor Svante Thunberg, have been showing symptoms after a recent tour of Europe. 

“For the last two weeks I have been isolated and then I got the virus,” Thunberg said in a video released by the New Scientist. “I came home from central Europe and then I isolated myself from the beginning, because I thought I might as well as I’ve been on trains…and so I don’t want to put anyone else at risk.”

“But then I started feeling some symptoms after a few days. But the important thing is that I didn’t basically feel that ill,” the activist continued. “At the same time my father was feeling much more intense symptoms.”

In her Instagram post, Thunberg added that it is “extremely likely” that she has coronavirus. 

“In Sweden you can not test yourself for COVID-19 unless you’re in need of emergent medical treatment. Everyone feeling ill are told to stay at home and isolate themselves,” she wrote.

“I have therefore not been tested for COVID-19, but it’s extremely likely that I’ve had it, given the combined symptoms and circumstances.”

Young People Must Pay Attention To Coronavirus

Greta Thunberg wanted the world to know that she barely felt symptoms at all. This is something she especially wants young people to understand. 

“If I wouldn’t have been for my father getting it at the same time and much more intense than me, I might not even have noticed it that I was sick,” she wrote. “Many people don’t feel symptoms at all, or very mild symptoms, but it can be contagious.”

We certainly do not agree with Thunberg on much, but we’re glad she is using her platform to urge young people to take this pandemic seriously.

Young people all over the world continue to ignore calls for self-isolation in favor of partying. Given they congregate in large groups as if nothing is happening, Thunberg’s message is one that they need to hear.

Greta Thunberg is best known for her radical climate activism. So it’s nice to see her put politics aside for a bit to urge her followers to come together and fight this virus.

Other Democrats should take a page out of her book and stop trying to use coronavirus to play political games.
