Reba McEntire postpones Mother's funeral due to coronavirus

The last couple of days have been difficult for people all over the world as we all struggle to adjust to a world turned upside down by the coronavirus pandemic. This time has been particularly difficult for country music star Reba McEntire, as her beloved 93 year-old mother passed away over the weekend. Now, as Reba processes this loss, she must also deal with the implications of coronavirus.

Reba McEntire Postpones Mother’s Funeral

Reba announced that she has no choice but to “indefinitely postpone” the funeral of her mother Jacqueline due to coronavirus, according to Fox News.

“After much thought and careful consideration among our family, we have decided to indefinitely postpone Mama’s funeral and burial at this time,” McEntire wrote on Twitter. “We will continue to monitor the situation and let you know as soon as possible about future plans to celebrate her life.”

News of Her Mother’s Passing

The difficult decision followed Reba sharing the sad news of her mother’s passing with her fans. The “I’m A Survivor” singer took comfort in the fact her mom is now with Jesus. She shared a personal photo and told fans that Jacqueline passed away on Saturday following a battle with cancer.

“Our Mother, Jacqueline McEntire, made that wonderful cross over into Heaven today,” McEntire wrote alongside a picture of her mom. “She had a wonderful, full, healthy life and was absolutely ready to go.”

While loss is hard, it’s wonderful to see the country music icon comforted by and sharing the knowledge that her mom is pain free and reunited with loved ones in heaven.

“The cancer might think it won the battle but we’re giving God all the credit on selecting the time for her to go home to Him,” continued the 64 year-old singer. “She was ready to see our Daddy, her mama and daddy and all her family and friends. Down here, Alice, Pake, Susie and I, grandkids and great grandkids all got to visit with her either in person or over the phone.”

Pray For Reba McEntire And Her Family

Losing a parent is one of the most difficult things a person can go through. So our thoughts and prayers are with McEntire and her family right now.

It must be devastating for them to not have the closure of a funeral. And be forced to postpone laying Jacqueline to rest because of the coronavirus.

Hopefully, this pandemic will come under control soon so that Reba and family can bury her mother in peace.

Reba deserves that, and so does Jacqueline.
